Did anyone not see that coming?
Wow

The ending we all saw coming. But the mid point with || Lex ||, didn't guess that.
ok, I don't know if it's I'm just used to seeing the helmet with the... ridge? but the helmet without it looks weird...
Loved that Lex cameo
I was honestly expecting Lex to get full immunity given hes out for Man of Tomorrow.
random thought that came to me this episode. obviously plans change but thinking back on the ending of season 1. I think there was obviously a change of plans of some sort as I expected them to do something with him hallucinating his dad. Also they forgot about the surviving butterfly going to him.
Hilariously, I went hunting for another TFS clip immediately after finishing the episode: https://youtu.be/5IojMhNoauk?si=AZkR3huaBiAsVnUA
Alucard's Twitter: https://twitter.com/thecrimsonfuckr
The Full Episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWynPcFRzWU
I've been rewatching the DBZA commentaries so it's on the brain
I need to watch Helsing Ultimate and then abridged at some point
and I'm going to pull out a moodkiller gripe about this episode. it's one of those things that I think that writers just don't think about but
pretending to be your twin to sleep with someone is rape. didn't like that
really wish they hadn't done that
Peacemaker is on the more serious spectrum of superhero shows, but like, I've never seen one deal with super-natural ramifications of things like that other than, like Legion.
And I think the whole Earth X problem is about to dwarf any issue like that, but who knows.
I feel like at times writers don't really click on things. like it's such an impossible scenario that they don't connect the dots, so the show will most likely act like it wasn't that.
oh back to the silly memes for a moment, sorry for the whiplash but this just came to mind.
Yeah, it's a really messy thing to untangle.
I think I get to dine on calling this a little after calling it at episode 1
while I get they wanted to make it abundantly clear I think that having it be the confederate flag in the corner instead of the swastika would actually ahve worked better.
also Adrian, I bet your dad is still totally gay in this universe but.........
so, there's only 2 episodes left, I don't actually know what a satisfactory conclusion to this season's storyline looks like
unless it's Chris going to jail
so lets say there's one episode to gather everyone up and get home, well Argus is still after them all, and this isn't alien invasion fighting, this is legit government agency having legit beef with multiple people on the team
or is it argus crosses over and there's a big confrontation on Nazi world?
I feel like cliffhanger of some sort might actually be likely
there's no reasonable storyline where they topple the nazi regime
in 2 episodes
It's Earth X, it's the actual Nazis that won WW2 and took over, like a Man in the High Castle scenario, so it makes sense to have that flag.
I guess. I just feel the other flag ties more into Peacemaker's family and origins
And yeah, it's definitely going to end on them blowing up one of the gates and deciding not to open it again.
yeah probably
I don't see Rick Flag Sr letting Peacemaker walk after he hands over the portal
What if he drags a replacement Rick Flag Junior with him?
I feel like those two will meet but it's going to run into a similar issue I raised before though not as icky, they aren't the same person. Especially as this Rick Flag Jr is raised on Nazi Earth
also if they want to do something with that they really should have had him be more of a character
or at least more than the guy other Harcourt is sleeping with until Peacemaker pays attention to her again
she was ready to dump him pretty damn quick
I'm not saying the season won't end in a satisfying manner, I'm just saying I'm not sure what it'll be. I'm leaning towards they arrive home to be arrested and next season is Chris in jail or working for Argus.
Judomaster is currently the unknown wildcard. I feel like he's either going to intervene with Economos or Attebayo
I lean towards Attebayo because I don't see how she gets out of that wihtout someone rescuing her
and no one else is near her. Maybe she runs to vigilante's house
Yeah, double anti-nazi Vigilante seems helpful.
we don't know how close they are or if other chris' house is anywhere near where og chris' is
it's not unreasonable for them to be close I guess
Well, Vig did walk there.
true good point
Honestly, if the rest of the season devolves into gleeful Nazi killing, I won't be too mad. I expect it won't, but like, it would be nice.
and we've established that Attebayo knows where it is because that's where they left from
I am always down for nazi killing but I don't think that quite fits the tone of what they're doing this season
It doesn't, but like... a little, as a treat?
hey maybe Chris has another tank shell strapped to a grenade
Speaking of, I didn't see much of Creature Commandos, but can we make this guys day?
oh man, love that guy

Yeah, he feels like a very simple, already established thing you can just introduce to this situation to resolve the nazi earth after Chris's stuff is resolved.
Flag throws GI in there as tge last shot of the season.
Random thought: how far down the rabbit hole must the "what would the lineup of the Beatles look like" conversation must have gone to produce Mick Jagger as the front man?
John was the outspoken leftist of the group, makes sense hed be dead in this universe.
ok, I'm not the most up to date on bands but wouldn't that mean Mick was born much earlier than our world?
how old is Mick Jagger?
or was
Werent they contemporaries?
ok fair enough, just checked
Apparently only 3 years younger than John
yeah, just looked
I was wrong
I have never claimed to be an expert on anything music
That episode was great but the pedantic DC Comics fan in me genuinely wonders why Lex is in Belle Reve, a supermax for metahumans and a bureaucratic black hole for Amanda Waller to keep her toys away from the League, and not 4 or 5 other prisons intended for normal humans like Blackgate, Iron Heights or Strykers Island.
I just wonder if it was like a writers room debate that went til 2 in the morning, or something
Because he was being punished.
probably 'this is secure enough to hold/protect him'
It's also just what they said at the end of Superman.
probably also that it's probably the best known prison in the dcu after arkham
so use the name people would know
Also, Belle Reeve isnt just metahumans. Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Peacemaker, Bloodsport and Ratcatcher were all held there
It felt weird there too! ARGUS goons just saying "send this Regular Human to Louisiana to a supermax prison" as if that is in any way legal.
Hell, it was a plot point that Bloodsports daughter would have ended up in Belle Reeve.
Well James Gunn should have a word with whoever wrote that nonsense!
Like, I'm not actually complaining it just makes me question how much power ARGUS has over the prison system in the DCU
A Lot.
also, does it feel a little weird for anyone else when a DC show/movie references Marvel and vice versa?
Weirdly, less so when DC references Marvel than Marvel referencing DC. A kid in Eternals calling Ikaris Superman just felt bizarre, the Adrians saying they were doing the Spider-Man meme worked for me.
ironically my brain actually goes to when Aunt May told Peter that he needed to slow down because he wasn't Superman.
I think it has always been standing canon that Marvel Comics exist in the DCU and vice versa. It's just practical, given the pop cultural impact of both companies.
Hang on, given Marvel started from Timely Comics, which published Captain America, it actually doesn't work that it would exist in Earth X.
well, even Marvel comics exist in Marvel comics...
He did get convicted of tearing a hole in the universe
Which is generally the kind of thing that only metas get convicted with, I bet.
So the bear sized man with dragon skin was probably Killer Croc.
Who is the glowing twink with cartoon eyes?
I think it's just the most max security prison they have
I was against the nazi world theory because I thought it'd be a more interesting story if it wasn't, but I'm gonna trust gunn on this
joke that works better spoken: you and Peacemaker both putting your faith in Gun(n)s
so... also in regards to season 1 I guess Peacemaker is over his 'I don't want to kill humans anymore' thing given how he handled the insurgents
Did not expect Lex to show up but why does ARGUS need his scanner? They were able to detect the portal opening in Chris's home, is their scanner just really short range?
Also didn't expect Vigilante to be more or less the same, I figured he'd be an absolute psycho. Vigilante's mom was hilarious though.
I still maintain that having a Nazi dimension gives you a way too easy excuse for Chris to leave and IMHO it would've been a better story if this dimension was as good as it seemed and Chris decided to go back to his worse one despite that.
That was my feeling too, but I'm not too cut up about it
I think it was they were specifically monitoring Chris' house
" I figured he'd be an absolute psycho."
for the portal I think it was they were monitoring his house and there was just a giant energy reading they caught on a general scan. Lex can detect dimensional breaches long range.
the only constant in the multiverse is Vigilante being an absolute maniac.
Upbeat Sociopath Vigilante is a vast improvement over his comics version of Daredevil But With Murder
And his arrowverse version of red herring for an all time worst season villain
Prometheus vs cicada in an all time worst season villain contest, the unstoppable force meets the immovable object
Cicada could have been neat if they hadn't hired the least charismatic member of the American Pie cast to play him
Or had the line that no superhero was ever able to defeat the guy with a magic knife that dampens meta powers
Like you don't even need to call in martian manhunter or supergirl for that, sara lance could end his entire everything half asleep with a bagle in one hand
i'd love to have the opinion of some non uber nerds, like us, on the nazi world reveal.
how they experienced that on their side
Ill tell you what my brother thinks when he sees it.
i'd love to hear that.
I am fully expecting Vigilante to literally ||fuck himself||
I do get one of the ARGUS guys (the one wearing the cap) confused with him as the actors look very similar (to me)
they do look a lot like each other
he outright says in the episode he hates touching other people
He also said he's not interested in sex for sex's sake, it's just something he does to be around peacemaker
Which explains when he had a threesome with Peacemaker and Amber
ok predictions: as I said, I think this season ends with Chris arrested
I think that the whole team survives
I think that Chris will have to kill either Keith or Keith's dad, or maybe Harcourt will
Vigilantes double teaming a group of nazis
the Rick Flaggs meet, but I don't really know which way that goes
Flag meeting his other universe son sounds like a really cheap shot. He misses his son who was brave, dutiful, and who he thought was a better man than him in every way. Now you're gonna shove his face in a version of his son who is a Nazi, and also a little weenie?
iirc Gunn said on the podcast that jr is only in the one episode
A big reason I was against the nazi earth theory was that this world, other than the fact it was lilly white, didn't feel like white supremacists or fascists
You have rock music, emotionally available and openly loving men, women flashing people etc
It doesn't ruin it for me but it does feel inauthentic to what these societies are actually like
We see that world through the POV of our Peacemaker, a white cisman who is a super star in that world.
Also...I don't see how any of those would be precluded by white supremacy or fascism. Caus' all we see is a scene between white people who are very much at the top of the hierarchy, in pretty rich looking neighborhoods.
It's a world that has lived like this since WW2 at least, that we see only in very quick snapshots from a really biased perspective.
Honestly it make more sense than most "the nazi won" universe i've seen depicted.
Also the wardrobe of Earth X Peacemaker could make me think that he was closeted in that world. Also some stuff when he talked with Harcourt on the bench before the attack of the sons.
(That and the heavy drug use)
I could see this world working if it was a neo nazi earth, where things like rock music and sexual liberation are more accepted in those movements, but if we're talking og nazis then we're talking hatred of "degenerate" art and deep rooted misogyny
It's 80 years removed from WW2 lots can happen in that time.
That's a whole lifetime worth.
Outside of superscience shenanigans, OG nazis are dead and buried at this point.
Like I said it doesn't ruin it for me, I trust gunn as a storyteller and ultimately it doesn't have to line up perfectly so long as the story is good
oh, figured that was my weakest prediction. he was kind of a nothing character honestly. even other Harcourt didn't seem to give a shit about him
Captain Triumph
Which is a wild pull to make
Captain triumph is an obscure golden age hero whose brother died but his ghost haunts him and they get superpowers from the three fates
He's also originally a quality comics character, like peacemaker
I assume the name was picked because of the whole dead brother thing and the quality connection
not to be confused with Triumph, the 8th founding member of the Justice League that everyone forgot existed
or the bike manufacturer
Also, on the subject of "a nazi earth would be more uptight", remember that the Nazis were and are massive fucking hypocrites. Those uptight rules existed to punish the outside group, not to actually limit the inner group.
So rock music would still exist, but just the rock music that didnt offend the nazis. So the Beatles can still exist, but without John Lennon and Brian Epstein.
Spider-man exists, enough for a Spider-mans meme
But if I had to guess, as a solo Ditko project, where nobody stopped him writing Peter as an objectivist.
I have issues with these counter arguments but I'm fully getting too into the weeds
I look forward to finding out what hair metal ballad the 11th street kids will slaughter nazis to in slow motion
I enjoy the theory I've seen floated that the season will end with Rick Flag Sr dropping GI Robot into Earth X to just have fun
how much music have we actually heard on other Earth? because that song Keith played for Harcourt was pretty tame for rock and roll. It might be that something called rock and roll survived the war but it's been heavily sanitized
You know, Fortnite isn’t wrong to pull that peacemaker dance. Rewatching the intro dance, there are a lot of swastikas and heil salute moves in there that stand out now.
rewatching the intro now and it's actually a bit impressive at how subtle it is for that.
like in a vacuum it doesn't quite look like that but when you're told the theme of the season then yeah you can kinda see it.
The second the Nazi theory was floated the fact that the laser wall behind everyone was in square segments was not lost on me
It is rather subliminal until you’re looking for it.
yeah, those dance moves and light patterns are completely fine on their own I'd say. Chris is just pretending to be a Cactaur.
but when you know the intended theme....
Yes of course, that cactuars are fascist
We must rise up, brother tonberries, and deliver unto them the great grudge of the proletariat
Aka, stabby stabby
Despite them all being professional actors, I do wonder how often they broke down laughing when forming the pile at the end of the intro...
You know Peacemaker is so good i look forward to it every week and currently i have real hankering to rewatch s01 just to be able to get more Peacemaker 😄
Wig Wam starts in the background
So, weeks later, I can finally answer. He could tell there was going to be something bad about this world, but it being a Nazi universe, he had absolutely no inkling it could be that bad.
And his initial reaction when Keith yelled "One got out!" was to laugh.
