#Only murders in the building episode 7

so the episode doesn't name a killer, buuuut
Meryl streep is at least one of the killers, and Dickie is possibly the other, and is her son
MB!!!! And MB!!!!!!
she hasn't got a book full of photos and news articles of ben glenroy; she's got a book full of articles which have photos of her son next to ben glenroy
and yes, MB and MB was excellent
anyway, the above is supposition by me, but I think makes sense
oooh, nice theory!
during the production of the show she got the courage up to tell him; she discovered how shitty ben had been to him his whole life and just snapped
and then when it didn't work one of them finished it
Dickie could have got bens pill doctor to scrub the autopsy/stomach contents results. Could also plausibly have had a key to the stage managers office that night although that is one thing that admitedly doesn't seem to have an obvious link to anything yet
anyway, that's my current theory
Wait, did Loretta mention having to give a kid up for adoption?
Or something suggesting that?
That is otherwise an incredibly solid theory
MB and MB were definitely great
Also fun seeing Theo again (and that Mabel's been learning ASL)
I'm not sure all of the photos had Dickie in them, though
Ah, the ones the recap specifically highlighted did though
Oh yeah, when that clicked, I was in awe
Like, an easy reference, but just so solidly delivered
"I should have been Ferris Buller" "You were 41!"
Was Charles also established to have Steve Martin's same hair colour when he was younger?
Because I don't think that would have helped either
no, but I'm trying to put together why she has that book; I don't think she's a stalker, although she could be
Dickie mentions he's adopted, and there is no realistic way they throw that out without a reason; and a lost son fits with Loretta's life of missed opportunities and regrets
We still got 3 episodes left... how? This seasons feels like it should have been 6 episodes...
(or: I don't think she's a ben glenroy stalker, I think her hate for him is genuine)
Something I always wonder about these programs, if Matthew Broderick and Mel Brooks are who they are, is there a Steve Martin and Martin Short in this universe?
Oh I thought we were 1 episode left?
Season 1 and 2 were 10 episodes, so I assume...
That is my sole basis for thinking 10, so if you heard elsewhere
Still feels like it should have been over already
yea, ok
that might be a crimp on my theory; I was trying to tie together everything in my head with one more episode to go ๐
agree with @fervent idol the season has barely had enough material so far, it seems implausible it has 3 more episodes worth
Anyone else pick him just from the voice?
Which one?
I assume Matthew, who we get hints of audibly through the door before seeing him
I didn't.
clearly I didn't either way, to be fair
Supposedly they've got a 5-season arc planned, so this season should likely end with a big bang, but it has definitely been the weakest of the 3 so far
I hope their plan is not "one of the threesome did it" because that would be no fun
but until further evidence comes in I like my Loretta/Dickie theory
I figure this one will end with Oliver having a second heart attack for the cliffhanger and there's a question on if it was attempted murder or not
oh, maybe. Or they all get kicked out of the building.
That's also plausible. Like an ending scene of Charles and Mabel being escorted off the property looking for Oliver, they go to his apartment and he's collapsed. Next season is figuring out who tried to knock him off and get them back into the building
I have to say though, this episode had all of what I loved in S1/2. Side characters, Arconia, Theo
Also Matthew Broderick just randomly popping in as himself made me happy
Oh, yes, this episode was excellent
The Mel Brooks cameo also made me very happy.
showed the neuroses of our heroes well, advanced the plot, great stuff with all the Arcanonia weirdos
I really just want Theo in every episode
Yeah, Broderick. When Charles is in the elevator and heard it, my mind immediately went to Bloom.
Speaking of, I feel like if they did it, I would absolutely loathe it, but since Nathan Lane was Teddy and they're explicitly talking The Producers, I kind of wanted them to do a Stallone as The Terminator bit and show who played Bialystock.
Agreed
Oh, is Teddy the other half of the producers? huh,
Yup. The musical version is Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick with Uma Thurman as the female lead
and Will Ferrell as the Nazi
isn't that also at least one of the movie versions?
At least, broderick and what my mind now identifies as Lane were in the one I saw (and hated)
That's what I meant, that's the musical movie version
oh, I thought you meant the musical as in theatrical version ๐
The Gene Wilder/Zero Mostel film version is non-musical, but very funny because Gene Wilder is hilarious.
But then yeah, they adapted it to a musical and then back in to a musical movie with Broderick/Lane
Also the easy pull for Max Bialystock in-universe is probably just Gary Beach, who played Roger De Bris in the first musical and the 2005 film
I prefer the original film tbh
They both have their charms
But I'm the world's biggest sucker for a musical, and Nathan Lane is very very funny
He's in that too. Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane were the original Leopold Bloom and Max Bialystock on Broadway, left because it was exhausting doing eight shows a week, came back later, and then played the characters in the movie. Most of the movie cast were the original broadway cast, Ferrell, Thurman and Lovitz were the only cast changes
I liked that Mabel's started to learn sign since last year
I think the Loretta might have a kid theory works in ep 5 she has a significant pause when asked what she has done wrong and that feels like the kind of thing a character of her age might be guilty over
Plus the Glenroy notebook doesn't make a lot of sense of its not that considering its obviously older than her involvement with the musical
yea, she could have been a stalker but that seems unlikely?
