#Spray Paint Simulator

what made you decide to start a simulator game that involves Spray Paint? Was it something you enjoy as a hobby in the past?
Another Question? Is there customization for our characters? Like can we buy different outfits? It be cool to get different outfits and maybe photo mode to take some really great selfie 😀
Is Steam Deck support planned? Powerwash works great on there no issues. And this would be the perfect companion to that haha.
(Also lemme know if you want a deck tester, I loooove trying things on my deck).
Lastly: if the game does well enough, maybe we could see some collabs similar to PWS?
Was there ever any consideration to include graffiti in the game? If so, what were the developer discussions surrounding that like?
Hey, I just realised I totally missed these questions—my bad! Guess it’s a case of better late than never.
At the start we had a lot of brainstorming sessions, throwing ideas around and seeing what stuck. I had been watching loads of oddly satisfying spray painting videos like this one: https://youtube.com/shorts/LgqD1tA6qHk?si=yB0or8YguFWqTcZH
That has 188 million views and there are loads more just like it all over the internet. There is something really mesmerising about watching a perfect coat of paint go on.
My wife also had a big part to play in the idea. She loves painting furniture and has upcycled so much of what we have at home. We bought a portable paint tool at one point and used it to spray our bathroom cabinets.
The other big influence was working on Lawn Mowing Simulator. Adam and I had so much fun making that game. It was really relaxing to play and for the most part it was just as enjoyable to develop. We knew we wanted to keep that satisfying, calming simulation vibe going.
Spray Paint Simulator just made sense and it felt right.
Yes! You can choose different colors or designs for your hoodie, gloves, face mask, joggers, socks, and sneakers. Plus, you can take customization even further by actually spraying your outfit with paints. There is a special level just for this so you can really make your style your own.
Photo mode isn’t something we’re planning to add at the moment, as we’re focusing on delivering the best core experience.
Steam Deck support is something we would love to explore. Right now we are focused on making the best PC experience possible, but keep an eye out for updates in the coming weeks and months. Great to hear PowerWash Simulator runs so well on there. We want Spray Paint Simulator to feel just as good.
Appreciate the offer too. Testing on the Deck sounds like a lot of fun.
As for collabs, who knows what the future holds. Watch out for updates.
We did consider graffiti early on, but we wanted to keep the focus on transforming objects from old to new and the satisfaction of a job well done. The game is built around a structured and methodical gameplay loop of prepping, spraying and revealing, designed to be both satisfying and relaxing. That said, the game does have a Free Spray mode, so players can still express their creativity with colors and designs, giving the best of both worlds
As a heads up, stencils, stickers and paint mixing are definitely on our radar. They are all cool but probably won’t make it in for launch. That said, if enough people want them, we will absolutely look into the feasibility of adding them later.
Also, when Lawn Mowing Simulator was coming out, PowerWash Simulator was making waves in early access. We gave it a go and absolutely loved it. At the same time, my daughter was deep into House Flipper. I think all of these combined planted the seed for Spray Paint Simulator.
