hmmm it might be something was turned off in hopes that it would make the build server more stable?

I can understand why they do that.. for some reason build servers are terrible unstable.. so any setting you can turn off reducing the number of calculations that need to be done at one time increasing stability without causing stack overflow to maybe go to another server... (but I'm not a actual programmer... so thats stabe in the dark guess.)

is there a limitation on creative for how many elec furnaces will run in an industrial setup? i can only get 6 running in one loop, and yes theyre all hooked up correctly and correctly powered

There is limitation on how many boxes can be in a loop and pulled out of but the number is higher then 6.

if you look at the Limitations.. each conveyor has a hard limit of 16 boxes that it can pull out of..
So in your case.. a single convey should be able to feed up to 16 furnaces at one time since a Furnace is just another kind of box as far as a storage adaptor is concerned.

so for a unit of 6 to 9 furnaces.. I would run a filter from your feed box for your sulfur ore, your metal ore, your high quality ore, and your empty food cans if your super efficient like that.. and send it into a industrial splitter that feeds two more industrial splitters, that goes into the electric furnaces..

for the out, I have them feed into industrial combiners, that goes into another industrial combiner that feeds into a filter set to pull only metal fragments, cooked sulfur, and cooked HQM... and have that go into a box..
So this system would work with the furnaces, maybe 2 or 3 electric splitter to run the furnaces if you need to worry about how to power it.. the two filters to pull and push materials around.. and then 3 or 4 industrial splitters... and 3 or 4 industrial combiners..

you try to add more onto this and you might hit that unholy 16 number.. and then your going to run into the cannot find issue.

If that is the way your doing it.. check your filters to make sure they correctly set.. though it that is the way your doing it.. there is not much of a chance to set the filters to only feed one furnace.
