Why isn't your GPU in the top slot?

tired quail
#

Works fine tho

serene narwhal
#

Working fine =/= optimal

tired quail
#

Aw boo hoo

#

Works fine ❤️

serene narwhal
#

Working fine is not the bar you should be looking at

tired quail
#

Yeah, i don't care

#

This computer is for someone who will not be touching resolutions above 1080p, and doesn't WANT to reach higher

serene narwhal
#

Okay?

#

Still doesn't mean you should just leave performance on the table

tired quail
#

I performed on your mom last night and left her on the table

#

Let my brother watch star wars in peace man

serene narwhal
#

Like I don't know if that's supposed to offend me or what

tired quail
#

It's supported to tell u you're being pretentious, like come on dude.

serene narwhal
#

How am I acting pretentious?

#

I'm literally giving you advice

tired quail
#

I didn't ask for advice bro :P

#

I just wanted to post a picture

#

If i wanted advice i would've posted to any of the advice chats

serene narwhal
#

And if you didn't know anything was wrong?

tired quail
#

Plus it literally wont fit again, i feel like i need to round back to the whole "it won't fit"

serene narwhal
#

Doubt that

#

Most likely just not installing it properly

tired quail
#

Sorry, I'm gonna go watch THE BAD GUYS (2022) with my brother. We will have fun ❤️

Good job. I’d put the gpu in the top slot because it does actually make a difference

median dragon
#

Nice, but you should probably put the gpu in the top slot

#

@tired quail nice looking build. they do genuinely have a point though.

your board seems to be a B550 PG Velocita(?), or something closely related to it, with what i assume is a matisse/vermeer CPU

#

that means the slot your graphics card is in, is limited to PCIe 3.0 x4 mode by default

#

this means the card is receiving four times less bandwidth, than if it were at its native PCIe 3.0x16 or 4.0x8

#

not sure what exact card it is, but it looks to be an XFX RX 6600 or RX 6600XT

#

meaning native 4.0x8

#

this is a PCIe scaling test taken by TPU, of the 6600XT in games

#

2.0x8 is the same bandwidth as 3.0x4, which is what your card is probably running at

#

like that's a pretty major performance loss, which seems silly when it's basically completely avoidable. like you're making your card step down a whole tier.

#

in some games there's near to no difference, but intentionally keeping your card there is just completely stupid, no offense intended.

#

i hope you move it back to its correct position, so your brother can get the most out of his new PC tupb

It's just some feedback you don't have to be so defensive @tired quail . He's also right, move it to the top slot.
