there's a lot of interesting things in this picture
Man has money to throw away clearly judging by the fact that he bought what looks to be Z royal ram idk why y’all making fun of him
You're right, that MA620m and 870 qvo sure are throwing away money 😂
It's just such a strange mess
Especially the cooler
Ah, the bar at which we judge parts asking to be judged is now "it literally fits together", didn't get the memo
I didn’t say that though
If the pc works I don’t think he’ll care
Dude asked for feedback, feedback I'm giving is the cooler especially is weird, but there's a lot of improvements that could have made at part selection here. As it's just boxes, the only thing we can judge at the moment is that part selection.
Honestly he probably picked the most 5-star rated component he could find on Amazon and assumed it was the best, too bad he didn’t ask for prior advice
oh yea that cooler looks fuckn chunky
Like they took a block of Al and slapped a shroud on it
And then he comes to probably the premiere place on the internet for helping people with PC lists, asks for feedback, and for some reason you are white knighting the feedback.
I hope OP sees this, and at the very least reconsiders the cooler
Am I blind because I don't see the cooler
Then it’s a matter of if he wants to even return the part again
CM refused to ship me a retrofit kit even though I paid for it :/
That is quite a unique cooler
back to amazon it went
Well this cooler is what it is. I’m interested in doing something with air cooling because everyone is doing water cooling I’m pretty sure I don’t need it Each part has a reason the 3600 mhz trident z royal at 2x16 was only like 20 bucks more then any other gamer ram on new egg last week. It’s also a 5900x cpu I got for just under or just over 300. The 250gig m.2 is going to hold windows and I don’t need super high speed ssd for the games I play. Nothing competitive. And for the motherboard I’m interested in looking trying out over clocking for the first time and these are the parts I wished to do it with. And also the money wasn’t an issue I paid just over 2400 for everything that I have here so it was all just sales happening over time. Also gpu is 3080 12 gig I isn’t see the befit of getting a 3080 ti for 600 more.
Also sorry it took long for a reply was driving home from work. I do have a few questions tho if you guys don’t mind. What would you have done if you had that gpu cpu and MB. What ram choice would you have made? what cooler would you go with? (Not water cooling) Don’t really care about the storage as I said before because this MB and GPU and CPU seem to be a great combo at just under ummmm off the top of my head 1900 bucks( for the three components)
idk about these guys but I bought the Trident Z royal not only because it looks good but good ram lasts for generations. As for the cooler I would've chosen something from Noctua that can support the TDP of the CPU
Blanket Noctua recommendation

Still cheaper than whatever chunk of metal he bought and I've used it in my server so 🤷♂️
What?
I've used a noctua cooler in my server?
When you say "Blanket Noctua recommendation" I'm under the assumption that you telling me I've never used a noctua product and therefore recommend it for no reason
Stop blanket recommending any brands
Noctua is just one of the best examples where people get hive mind over the brand name for some reason
and in the time it took you to argue with me over my recommendation you could've given your own
Do you have any recommendations for an air cooler?
Deepcool AK620 is the clear leader in high end air cooling right now. Costs $65usd, outperforms the entire market.
Would you look at that, problem solved, guy here saves a couple bucks
nothing wrong with your suggestion but I just recommend products I have had good experience with in the past. Although noctua is overrated, it works for me
You didn't even recommend a product
Please stop talking
You recommended a brand, you didn't recommend a product at all
A u12s has nothing in common with a nh d15 has nothing in common with a l9i
At least he recommended something you just talkin to talk ya know? I’m asking for advice y’all went from cookin me to flamin a man for a light recommendation
Do you always respond to people with attitude? Anyways I've used the NH-U12
Like shit does everyone in this server respond with attitude
I recommended an actual product
It’s ThE PrEMiErE pLAcE on tHe InTeRnEt
well if I told this guy go buy a U12 and it doesn't cool his CPU sufficiently oh no guess who is responsible for the recommendation
I mean I have the products I like the way the slim led line runs across the cooler no recommendation anyway makes is getting bought ya know I’m just curious because everyone had something to say but didn’t actually say what they would do different ya know what I mean @slate merlin? You at least tried to help
I said the biggest thing I would look at is the cooler, that cooler severely under performs its price bracket, it really struggles on anything above 150 watts
Number two I would look at the SSDs, 250 GB SSDs are pretty poor value price per terabyte, and you bought a 870 QVO which is pretty outdated, could have got a TLC HMB drive like an Mp33 for similar to less
You legit just watched a tech source video
Beyond that, the only recommendations I could give you are changing out parts that would involve quite a lot more headache
I don't think I've even watch TechSource, and I have hundreds of thousands of messages in the build advice threads here
The 870 QVO is a SATA QLC drive, but the pricing is usually above entry level NVMe TLC
So 250gig ssd legit 50bucks
So you can legitimately get a 500 GB Gen 3 NVMe drive for $45
I didn’t want that
I’ve a970 eco for windows at 250gigs
It's got a good controller, but I would argue for basically the same price, double the capacity is worth more than a small controller bump
I have the 870qvo for general storage
Yes, and I would merit it that both are bad choices in this market
I don’t really want to spend the money on an M.2 2 TB when they are legitimately 300 bucks because of the ps5 boys trying to add storage
I'm not asking you to buy a 2tb
I'm saying there are better choices for the same price points
I got a 250gig windows storage device for 50bucks I got a 1TB Sata drive for like 80 bucks I think and it will write and read fast enough for my needs. Like I need to run OSRS and classic wow any faster
Okay, have fun then
Now I’m asking about the ram and the cooler because I did a bit a looking into the cooler and in its price range for single fan cooler it is under 40db at full load
Any case, I would seriously put some thought to the cooler, That's the one part I see that's really a concern to me, it's going to hold you back from overclocking any 200 watt CPU
Otherwise, I'm dropping out
That keeps temps on this CPU at around 75
And that’s fair if I have to get another cooler then I can one day
Rams fine, I would have started out with a decently fast 1Tb SSD, and for cooler, if OC'ing a 5900X is on the cards, probably a 280mm/360mm AIO.
It will be one day. I’ve never OC before so that is the purpose of the DH board so I can have something that has good bios to learn on
I just have no need for faster SSD that I can see
Sure, but more cooling always helps.
Yeah lower temps higher clocks
He is something cool about this cooler tho I like how it looks
Hopefully it’s not shit
I do wish I could have found a better deal on a 12 gig asus card but the MSI is gonna treat me well I’m sure
Buying a cooler based on tdp rating
Funny man
they do lol
take a break. have a kitkat
though ngl what you said doesn't make sense really, noctua make a fuckton of stuff, most of which is probably not great value for money
I don’t like Kit Kats anymore unfortunately
they got some nice coolers and fans and stuff but some real shitty ones too that they still charge a lot for
in the end it all depends on the product
I love how everyone comments on the noctua part but not the trident z royal ram part
oh i was just skimming through this channel then i thought i'd take a peek at this since it had 50 messages lol
all good 👍
The real question (i might have missed the answer) is how much did you pay for everything
@distant karma
Well I paid just over 2500 at first but I had some bad news about the case tho it got lost in China
But I do have a friend that has an extra Corsair 5000t case he said he would sell me for 300 and I’m not sure that pretty expensive ya know
And I’m going to move over to AIO anyhow and return the MA620M so I’m going to end up spending around 2800 to 2900 all in
I was trying to stay at 2500-2600 range but I’m gonna say my want to actually build this and not stare at my components any longer will win out I’ll let you guys know on Friday what I’m planning on doing
Also money doesn’t really matter that much I am not rich but I have a good job and live in a rural are so I make enough where it won’t bother me to pay more
A ryzen 9 a 12 gig 3080 and a dark hero MB is 1800 alone your a funny guy
And I got the MB for 100 off msrp
It’s been 500 since launch a year or so ago I got it for 400 got the gpu for 1100 and ryzen 9 for 300-400 not sure how much
Expensive =/= to good
Not being rude but what you mean bossman
Right find me a cheaper one on the mobo
Brand new not used
People scalp that mobo and sell it for 700 all day bro
The only thing I feel I’ve wasted money on is the new case I’ve picked and the AIO water cooler but I didn’t care at this point really and my ram may be extra but I like how it looks. Here in a few days I’ll send complete build and see what you guys think then. Then I’ll do some base clock tests for you guys too over the next few weeks
What you need to understand is
If I got a 3080ti for $100 under MSRP it's still a bad deal
Just because something is at MSRP or below it doesn't instantly make it a good deal
Also you still never mentioned which cpu you have
Furthermore you can literally buy that motherboard right now for $450
So why are you going on about $700
I got it for 400 btw 5900x btw I got that for 350 just checked sorry for mis speaking Also through the last year the mother board had been scalped heavy and been out of stock it’s only recently become available
But I also didn’t get a 3080 ti I got what is pretty much a 3080 super. 12gig 3080 not 10 gig like at launch. I also agree that 3080 ti is bad deal but. Some people have been paying 1500-1800 for 3080s until recently when gpus crashed
I used the 3080ti as an example
Everyone is acting like I got washed when really I paid what is close to true value being under msrp
Oh okay I understand now my bad friend
This is exactly why I used the 3080ti example. Just because something is under MSRP doesn't mean it's a good deal
But I didn’t get washed like a lot of people did over the last year or 2
What the hell is a 3080 super
So it’s not a thing….
It's not
But they make 10 gig 3080 and 12 gig 3080s
Yeah?
So it’s essentially a 3080 super in a way
No
No again
Sure
They have essentially the same performance if you're not maxing out the vram
You're never going to max out the vram while gaming
You underestimate how poorly optimized tarkov is good sir 😂😂
The 2GB of extra vram isn't going to help you
Also you got quite a bad deal with the $400 motherboard
And same thing with the 5900x for $350
Don't you see something wrong with your motherboard costing more than your cpu?
Personally it's a major red flag
I don’t see and issue since the MB and the CPU launched at the same time
If you saying a 5900x is a red flag of a CPU you’re more lost than Anakin in revenge of the sith
I’ve come to the conclusion you spent a reasonable amount for all the parts, assuming i got it correct
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, GeForce RTX 3080 12GB LHR, Corsair iCUE 5000T RGB ATX Mid Tower
although in general you spent more than you should’ve
Don’t worry, he just doesn’t like nice computers
Very close man. I swapped the cooler master for a rog ryujin 2 and I have trident z ram. I swapped cases in coolers because they lost my case in shipping so I got what would come the fastest (this weekend) that seemed to fit my build. I know I’m not crazy and that this will be a good pc.
Also I got trident z royal ram 32 gigs at 3600 mhz. I didn’t want to go ddr 5 just yet because of lack of xmp support for 4 slots used and that Dan come in a few years no big deal
I went cheaper on drives because read speeding being 500 mb doesn’t effect me very much and sata drives are nowhere near being “obsolete” I’m finding that a lot of people on this place are trolls, jealous, or fuckin ignorant
Like old boy above you that’s saying my cpu is a red flag when he’s running a 6000x acting like it’s not the laptop equivalent of my cpu
The biggest thing I’d change is storage https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kT3z6r
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, GeForce RTX 3080 12GB LHR, Corsair 5000D AIRFLOW ATX Mid Tower
And the case
ehh it’s to late to change the case at this point I originally got the Corsair 4000 wind flow case (hence the air cooler and 3 noctuia fans from og build)
That's not what I said. I said your motherboard costing more than your cpu is a red flag
5900x is a bad choice though

Yeah doesn’t exist 😂
You can exit the chat anytime you want bossman
You have shown your ignorance
Yeah that's the 5950x
Not 5950
Yeah
Exactly so I'm not wrong
Touch grass please
No
That's quite hypocritical of you lmao
How? Because I’m building a hobbyist pc?
Because you bought a 5900x and then a $400 motherboard along with it
And you're refusing to believe that it was a bad purchase
Right I’m a mechanic work 10 hours a day and can afford a nice pc so I need to touch grass
I happen to have an exmark laser z lawn mower to mow the 8 acres I own
I touch grass for a minimum of 2 hours every 5 days
Touching grass ya neet
That's not impressive?
I wish I would have bought a thread ripper and a maximums mobo so you could cry more
How much did you pay for the entire PC?
I might by 64 gigs of trident royal elite
Can I do a custom loop with your tears 😭
.
It’s in the chat
I cba to scroll through
With new components I paid just over 3k
Holy shit
That's so much worse than I thought
Okay I legitimately feel bad for you
Right
You know what else
My case costs the same as my cpu
My AIO also costs just as much as my cpu
☔️
Your a sad clown that has a laptop in a pc building discord all day
And you know why I win because you keep replying
🧌
I’m wining because you are triggered and it makes me smile
I'm not triggered
You sure
Why would you want to pay $1k for sub-par performance
I’m not tho
You are
How does my mobo cause sub par performance
Your CPU
My cpu is nearly as good as it gets
meh
Like legit until you get to threadripper I wouldn’t do much better
No?
12700f out-performs the 5900x in most tasks while being cheaper
inb4 "but am4 socket upgradability!!!!"
Yeah while sucking almost 100 watts more and being a rehash of a 9th gen chip
Intel has worse thermals worse power consumption and might outperform on productivity but I’m not getting what I want with intel
Strong might
In what world
In this world
80 to 90 c on load vs 75-80c on load
alder lake bears no resemblance to skylake, which is what 9th gen is inherently based on
Where are you getting these figures
YouTube and Reddit
lmao
@jovial pebble you are correct I forgot they did move to alder lake my bad
Actually my original numbers were off
intel is a manufacturer, this sort of thing depends on exact CPU architectures, the conditions they're in, and the software being run.
anyways it doesn't matter
ya got what you want, be happy
It's a 25w difference
Anyway pictures of the build will be up Saturday if my delivery’s are on time.
i'm out now, peace ☮️
noice
You still watch LTT don’t you water
Sounds about right
Merch on LTT store dot com
Video is sponsored by nzxt to get the best water block on the market and here’s why reason 1 they gave me money
Yeah and?
They shouldn't really be used for reviews
Doesn't change the fact they're quite entertaining
You would fit right in on his YouTube comments
Okay?
You guys have several jayz commands
I mean it really ain't that hard to make a video on test booting
ive got a story to tell u about my incoming z690 maximus
It's the 5000T
But the pictures are a bit smeary and dark
all I'm seeing is more RGB = more better
yea exactly
400$ ripoff of a 70$ case
looks cool tho
the OG
Every picture I take is like that any advise the light not being crazy like that
