peak bridge
#

whic mobo is that?

tawdry cipher
peak bridge
#

nice mobo

#

feel like u spent a lot on the mobo lol

#

but idrk tbf

#

mobos got cheaper for intel at least, (z890)

#

z790 used parts have increased in price tho

tepid shale
#

$300 for the pro ice. doesn't seem that bad

#

I start questioning when people start paying $600+ lol but that's for people who pairs a $600 mobo with like a 5070ti or weaker

peak bridge
#

pretty steep

peak bridge
#

and 14900k

#

so the hottest PC u could have back in the day (barring using 14900KS)

#

i know someone who got 14900ks and a 4090.. made no sense to me

#

dude said he barely upgrades and is the first time he is making a big purchase.. but then.. he should just upgrade more frequently? 🤣

peak bridge
tepid shale
#

a few b650 can be found at $150

peak bridge
#

yeah but 300$ seems a bit higher end

tepid shale
#

any cheaper then is usually crap

peak bridge
#

but then again people here spend a lot on aesthetics so idrk

tepid shale
peak bridge
#

its power req is like the highest. and ram speeds are higher too

tepid shale
peak bridge
peak bridge
#

if anything u can even more so not cheap out on mobo for 14900k

tepid shale
peak bridge
#

cuz the thing gouges up power

tepid shale
#

but you wont find much good $130 am5 mobos

#

day of $100 mobos are kinda gone

peak bridge
#

yeah unfortunately..

#

idk what happened..

#

kinda crazy how inflation is considered only 2-5% but everything i know and love and need has been increasing in price at a quite higher rate

tepid shale
peak bridge
#

healthcare, housing, education, electronics

peak bridge
tepid shale
peak bridge
#

it kinda does make sense to perhaps spend more on mobo + cpu rn

#

when those are the only half sensibly priced things

tepid shale
#

my mobo is just $200 but I didn't go for looks. I just have a Asus Tuf Gaming B650 Plus Wifi

peak bridge
#

but yeah i think z790 auros pro is of similar price (300$ or so), i just never bought it tho cuz elite has pretty much everything u would need

#

afaik the ram overclocking isnt even better on the pro

peak bridge
#

yeah

tepid shale
peak bridge
#

but i dont think its just looks

peak bridge
tepid shale
#

intel can push 7200mhz, AMD’S most safe is 6000mhz

peak bridge
#

intel requires higher power delivery and better memory overclocking

#

ironically the best intel mobos were super pricy itx ones

#

or some uber expenive ROG ones that had only 2 ram slots

tepid shale
#

damn I really want to try an itx build lol

peak bridge
#

best 4 dimmer was asrock pg nova afaik.. but auros elite and auros pro were right behind. i think there was/is no difference in mem OC for auros pro and auros elite..

peak bridge
#

bro i got my coolmon argb cables

peak bridge
peak bridge
#

@tepid shale from what i researched that steel legend is very good for am5

#

so 200-300$ really aint normal

#

apparently x870 is lowkey useless cuz all it adds is a usb 4 port which most devices dont even support, and for workstation builds it even saps pcie lanes from ur pcie slots

tepid shale
#

ah

peak bridge
# tepid shale ah

thats the board i was recommended will be using for a build with a 5090 or two

#

so for sure u dont need 200-300$ for ur PC. i think i may get something slightly better tho but maybe still b850 if the usb 4 does infact sap pcie lanes and doesnt have some dynamic routing/allocation
