#Got my hands on a 4080 for a good deal
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Yea ik I was shocked when I got it out of the box and compared it to my 4070😂
I hate this connector it needs with a passion
I also had upgraded from a rtx 4070 but to a rtx 5080 late last December
I stayed in the 40 series just bcz I got a killer deal on it compared to 5080s rn
you're not loosing too much anyways. 5080 is only 15% faster in general and still looses to a 4090. only can get close to a 4090 if overclocked sense 5080's can overclock quite crazy weirdly enough
I paid 900 after shipping for it the metal bracket got a little bent in shipping but I got a replacement one coming for 7$ and take me 2 mins to fix
for the gpu or whole pc?
ah I wouldn't call $900 a killer deal. my one friend online MetPrism got his 4080 for $800
Yea fair enough to me it seems decent
I got my 5080 for $1100 before gpus went crazy high lol
Yea I was a little late on that dept so I over payed for ram
not bad price. my pc is basically $2600. R7-7700x, 64gb ddr5 6000mhz cl30, Rtx 5080, and over 9tb total storage in my main pc
Very much am loving this case
ah nice, I have the plain corsair 4000D
nice stuff, make sure to grab a native 12v cable for your psu instead of the squid though, the squid adapter is a huge fire/melting hazard
Any good links for a 90° one?
what psu? corsair has offical 90 degree ones that are godly if you got them
or if your psu has 12v on it, you can buy their 12v to 12v 90 angle one
https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/pc-components-accessories/cp-8920351/corsair-psu-90-12v-2x6-style-a-cable-cp-8920351 yours have this end on it?
Should be? But I don’t think I have that on my psu it’s a EVGA 1000gt
? gt? thats too old since thats from before atx 3 psus
uh only one that would work for you is from cablemod
I bought it new like a year and a half ago? Didn’t realize it was considered old I must have got it around the end of production on them
oof
yeah evga has gone down the shitter hard since like 2022 after they stopped making gpus sadly
their warrantys got MAJORLY downgraded from 10 years to 3 and other stuff
https://cablemod.com/compatibility/ E-Series should work? but im not sure they have a right angle cable for E series on cablemod sadly

It’s all good I’ve shilled for EVGA over the years why I’ve stuck with them for my PSU
yep, its just sad that after their GPUs died, the rest of the company died right after
they laid off almost everyone after that
I still got my EVGA 1060/2060 ultra that I started out with
i used my 3080 ftw3 for a solid 5 years until this september when i got my PNY 5070ti open box for 600
sold it off to a friend to use in their pc and sadly no longer have anything evga now
had a 3070 ftw3 aswell, but i quickly sold that off to a friend too since i managed to get it during the mining craze thanks to queue
I think I got like 4 years out of this gem
Still works too I hang on to it as a spare at this point it’s living in my girls pc Bcz she inherited my old build since I took my 4070 and PSU for my new one but I guess she’ll be getting both back 😂
i always keep around 1 spare gpu just in case some shit happens
even a old gpu is better then no gpu if something dies
Originally I had that 3700x and a 4070 befor I transitioned to a 9800x3d
got my 5700xt nitro plus around still for that reason
got it in 2019 near release for 300$, that bitch made itself back and like 6x over due to mining in 2021-2023
But she got that 3700x build the 2060 but she’ll get my 4070 and my 1000gt now so I can native for my gpu
tbf the psu isnt bad, just no native cable so gotta be careful about melting
It’ll be more then good for her bcz she doesn’t play anything crazy intense, compared to me playing star citizen
Yee I’ll be psu shopping I was hoping to get a good life out of that psu 😂
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/XZsV3C/corsair-rm1000x-2024-1000-w-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-cp-9020271-na id wait for rmx to go on sale again back to 140 like it did recently if i was going to grab a psu myself
180 is just too much ngl normally
I’m just browsing but looks like EVGA still does 10 yr warranty on their PSU

Sike out of stock everywhere rip
yeah dont buy that shit its way worse then their old psus
Yee I’ll be shopping for new ones not from them
anyway just wait for rmx to go back on sale again and buy one then
simple stuff
Fs should I look into any of those wire view stuff?
nah
thats for 5090 owners or huge overclockers
Okay just wanna make sure I don’t burn up the 4080
im here bc im just stunned by how jacked that gpu is
yeah aorus master is a 4 slot card
which is strange because even though its thick as hell, its actually not even the best model still
that would take up all of my slots lol
also i cant believe how late im up rn
its 6 am
Skill issue, it's 5am here
nice i feel like a zombie
i also feel like puking idk if that comes from being this tired
Iv been playing Stalcraft x for 15 hours now
It’s pretty fat I will agree
I didn’t really look at the size specs Bcz ik it fit in my case but I wasn’t expecting that thic of a gpu
my gpu is prob the same thickness as a slim brick they would layout for a walkway
also make sure to buy a oled monitor to pair with that setup soon @heady wigeon
just had mine come in today, and its the biggest upgrade by far for my setup unquestionably
it completely RUINS you compared to the old shit non oled monitors
I am I’m currently using a scepter 1080p monitor
https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/alienware-27-360hz-qd-oled-gaming-monitor-aw2725df/apd/210-bljd/monitors-monitor-accessories yeah i grabbed this one on sale, got it for 450 after discount, and its been the best thing ever with my 5070ti so far
and i was using a 1440p 165hz nano ips as my previous monitor and its still a HUGE gap
https://a.co/d/09iale6J I’m looking at this and using my 1080 as a second monitor
Or the g5 32inch
no, dont, thats absolute dogshit in comparison
you WANT an oled
thsoe are even WORSE then the ips ones since theyre shitty slow VA Panels without proper hdr or anything
Not all VA is bad. people forgets the tradeoffs between cheap ips, va, and tn. and the more pricy, the more harder they are too tell.
Cheap IPS: Bad Back Light Bleed, but good mid balance of Color and Refresh
Cheap VA: Bad Black Smearing, but good Color and Blacks
Cheap TN: Bad Color, but super fast refresh
But the more you pay, the more not noticeable those are. like Good IPS and VA are very hard to tell. But we all can agree that OLED is better
the ones hes looking at are the definiton of cheap dogshit VA my guy
and he has a 4080, he can easily afford a proper oled
Idk much about that LG one, But I have a Asus one that's perfectly fine
yeah its not a good one
no mini led or anything to make it actually good in hdr and gaming
unlike the aoc one and a few other actually solid models
I have no mini led, its just VA
https://www.bestbuy.com/product/aoc-27-q27g40xmn-mini-led-qhd-180hz-gaming-monitor-black/JX9GSKPL9Y like if they wanted an actually decent model this would be one of them
TUF Gaming VG27WQ3B is a 27-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) 1500R curved gaming monitor with an ultrafast 180 Hz refresh rate and 0.5 ms (GTG) response time for extremely immersive gameplay. It features exclusive Extreme Low Motion Blur technology and AMD FreeSync™ to eliminate ghosting and tearing. In ad...
my monitor
yeah the AOC one i linked is a huge step up from that
since its usually 300 just on sale for 200 rn
mini led for $200 is pretty good
so the one he sent, is it worser than mines?
I know so little of LG
LG has a million different monitors
the specific one he linked is pretty trash though especially for gaming use
the only nice thing about it is 32in, everything else is garbage
anyways, yeah all the cheap versions have trade offs. I had a ips panel from Sceptre that had terrible back light bleed where the blacks were more lighter grays
reason why people got to do research
almost nobody really does research into this tbf, only a few nerds who really care on here
its made by LG/samsung/etc it HAS to be good no matter what, its a big name brand after all
thats what 95% of people think when looking at this
true, my next panel may be oled, someone sent me like a $500 alienware monitor, which I think it's the same as what you posted but on Amazon
it is, you just save more money through dell because of discounts like student discount, military, and a lot of others, along with dell rewards, so you can save a decent bit more that way
but amazon is less discount and more just faster shipping if you wanted it and didnt care about saving more money
rn I am holding onto the money I am saving for upgrading for a newer cpu for whenever zen 6 x3d releases as I dont want to get a 9800x3d now when zen 6 is around the corner with rumored of more cores. But I am cpu limited at 1440p with a 7700x on my 5080
Thing is about oled is the motion handling and clarity is so good on it that it easily makes up for not hitting as high fps on it in games
Like 240hz oleds have similar motion clarity in gameplay to 360hz ips
Also depends what 1440 games, esports low i can imagine that
interesting. I only gone up to 180hz so far. I have not seen a 240hz or higher in person
And all my friends in person I know has weaker monitors and systems than I have. most run 2070/2070S
one with a 1080ti soon with my old rtx 4070, and other with my old rtx 2060
9800x3d has been a blessing coming from a 3700x
Get a sag bracket on that thing lmao
actually, you should be able to hit above 180hz quite easily on just a 7700x though??
its just your monitor maxes out at 180hz, so thus your actual ingame fps maxes out at 180 aswell due to that
like my current pc has a 14700k 5070ti and is easily hitting 280+ fps in a lot of shooter games that are more cpu then gpu bound easily, probs could hit even higher if i didnt do 1440p higher settings on them too
and 14700k to 7700x gap is pretty damn small in game perf
Oh I can hit 180fps easily just I like to get rid of most bottolenecks I can plus more fps is usually better input response even if it goes past the monitor
brings you out of gsync range which makes it way more likely to have tearing/screen issues on the monitor though
especially if its not super consistent fps
but yeah you'll be able to buy a 1440p 280hz+ oled and run it easily on that 5080 in games no question considering im doing pretty close on my 5070ti rn
Work in progress lol
I have 1 Amazon bought sag stick
And the sag bracket it came with
After building it I read up about the 12vhpwr. This was my first ever attempt at building a pc so I was unaware of all the shit surrounding the manufacturer cable
Got lucky with all my parts. Though I did buy them new I’ve come to learn that don’t mean shit in this industry
These cases are so good
And yea I got a cable mode for my EVGA psu I’m just gonna keep using it
