Get a proper butchers block from Home Depot or Lowe’s
Not sure how sturdy those legs are. The butchers block is heavy, so may need something stronger
Like the ikea drawers
Not sure what length you would need but I got the 98in version of this
All I had to do was apply 2 coats of clear coat finish and it came out beautiful
Best part of my set up
It’s an investment but it’s worth it and will last you for years
Decades even, if you take care of it
I live in switzerland so my closest Hardware stores are either Hornbach or IKEA but ill try to get something like that from there
Ill probably end up getting the alex drawers like everyone else
Ah yeah I was going to ask what country you’re in
Try to stay away from the IKEA Karlby countertop if you can or you’ll just find yourself in the same situation a year from now
Solid wood is the best way to go
why is the Karlby bad? is it low quality wood?
its just particle board and will eventually bend/bow like your current desk
I mean I was over exaggerating about it happening in year. The middle support leg will make it last
but with an actual solid wood desk you don't have to worry about that at all
if it's particle board but has a metal frame that should be enough for cheap 🤷♂️ we've had a pair of those for a good few years now and they're still doing very well. still doesnt beat butchers block tho.
yeah fair, I mean I'm not completely against the Karlby. I'm just very pro butcher block
I want a butcher block this time
My current one just consists of particles and is bent as hell
@empty lily ur pc setup looks amazing
@wanton temple what color would you suggest I go with
I had any kind of dark wood in mind
Or is pure black better
uh good question
I really didn't put too much effort into researching my own desk to tell you the truth. I just bought what was available and looked nice at my local home depot
then only had to put clear finish on it and it turned out perfectly
My set up with the desk and teal ikea drawers
Got this desk for 75 bucks I think it looks better and Ill get a standing desk next year or so anyway
looks shorter than your other desk
also won't look too great when it gets dusty
but hey if you like it that's all that matter
I want to get a standing desk frame for mine but I would have to buy the heavy duty powered frame that cost $1K to support the weight of my desk
I dont need more space realistically, its 6 feet wide so it wont sag as fast
and it looks really good imo, especially in person
Ill just clean it regularly
I like the all black look its worth the tradeoffs for me personally
also it was 75 bucks I wont use it forever
