Just got my OLED monitor and am running

do you see a difference using oled?

ive never had anything but a 1920x1080 monitor

my main gets up to 380 hz

but its still 1920x1080

Honestly I was skeptical at the OLED hype. Like how much of a difference can color make because resolution or FOS. But yes. Tbh it’s a giant step up and I didn’t realize how much RICHER your picture gets with OLED color range. It’s def been worth it over my previous IPS.

Absolutely no performance hit. Not even a little bit from what I’ve been keeping track of.

wow okay good to know, for some reason i always thought that higher res means less frames but i guess in modern times thats probably less true

Which I guess makes sense. It’s not like the computer itself is really working harder. It’s the monitor that’s lifting its weight as far as OLED benefits so to speak

Well going form 1080p to 1440p (my OLED is 1440p) is going to be more demanding for your PC so feasibly there would be a performance hit compared to your previous res. But I meant there was no performance hit going from 1440p IPS simply switching over to OLED.

Right, I guess i wont know until i try it but i would imagine the few frames ill lose i wont even notice compared to how much better my picture quality is

but i can imagine that for oled as you go up in the amount of hz the monitor can actually achieve it probably gets significantly more expensive

For sure. I mean OLED in general has historically been extremely expensive (his forbid you’re gaming at 4k you’re paying your liver) but prices have started to come down. I got my MSI oled for 600 bucks. I’ve seen OLEDS go for closer to 800-1000 dollars.

I mean as long as you’ve got a decent GPU that’s suitable to bring you into 1440p gaming in general your FPS should be perfectly fine tbh.

Literally where I was at like a week ago or whatever day I got this OLED on. MSI’s OLED’s at 1440p going for 5-600 US dollars. AOC has a really popular one rn going for 400 even.

The market seems to be better now than it was just a few months ago if considering OLED.
