#750 watts?

yep, works great
I’m sorry
I just made your build on pcp
The estimated wattage is 732 watts
You have a 750 watt psu
You have a 4090 and a 7950x
And 64 gb of ram
How can you not afford a psu
not really an issue of affording one, just no better SFX units in terms of noise / reliability
Yes and when you have a power surge your computer will explode
Doesn’t that sound nice?
cpu is set to 142w ppt, 4090 is power limited, uses less than 450w with both at 100%
Oh wait I forgot the fans
We’re at 742 watts now
At least you’re undervolting the cpu
plenty of folks runing i9s and 4090s with the SF750 as well, they're known to be reliable even pulling 900w
I mean, hey, it looks nice, I hope it doesn’t blow up on you but if it does then that really sucks
gold standard sff psu
I still skeptical of 750 watts for a 7950x and a 4090 fe tho lol
thats fair, like i said tho both at 100% use less than 450w
gpu maxes out around 260w with the power limit i've set
It's a SF750, they're known to run quite a bit over spec @sage pewter
Oh I didn’t know that lol
Seems kind of silly to have a psu go over spec but whatever
its fine..
I’ve been told this already dude
You don’t need to add to it
ok DUDE
Haha this is the wrong neighborhood for this build. People here think you need 1000W for a 7600X and a 4060.
I don’t think I have ever heard of anyone struggling on an sf750.
For a 7600x and a 4060 you don’t even need a 650
always fun to spook people who aren't familiar with sff stuff
Me lol
it happens, in general sff stuff is just strange. not super familiar with full size stuff but i haven't heard of a 750w atx psu being able to handle 900w consistently
main concern of mine is noise so with power limiting / not using intel i wont get near that but its nice to have just in case
TLDR for a LONG time nobody offered >750W sfx PSUs
So a few companies got a bit .... Creative with how they made them
How much power a unit can handle is really just where the protection circuit is set to cut off, because no quality unit is actually running close to a dangerous limit
With ATX, 1200W units have been widely available for a long time so no reason to look for this
How did you get an FE 4090?
Also what do you use this rig for? Amazing build, ofc
got it from microcenter last year, pc is used for video editing in adobe / ow2
adobe is primarily single threaded so gonna swap to a 7800x3d since i can use the extra fps more than the extra cores
Adobe isn't really single threaded anymore, even if it doesn't scale all the way to 32 threads all the time
ah i see, dont really have issues in general use but always struggled with tracking in AE since its single threaded
I see productivity people go with 7950x so it may make sense to stick with it.
Most games do benefit more from 7800x3d (which I have) but the difference isn't always massive
There is just one game I know of personally that runs better on the 7950x and that's cyberpunk. But that's just because of the design of their own engine. The vast majority of games don't benefit from extra cores like that
