You need your cables, but you can zip tie them down and it hides them

I suspect your cooler is plugged into the wrong header anyway

Most boards have a dedicated CPU cooler header closer to the CPU

not always that case - the z790 apex encore board has it on the top like the one in the picture

but it depends on the board, i can understand why a board invented for extreme oc has it on the top. but yes still do check
