What adapter did you get? How are the temps? Is there much of a bottleneck from the adapter?
Also is it stable enough (like does it topple over sometimes)
i used the adt-link r43sg for the adapter. it is not a huge bottleneck but still x4 do limit its power a bit. probable ≈ 3070 in desktop
nvme to pcie
not if i put lots of blue tack to stick the board down (but still i still take the gpu off if i am not going to usd it for a long time
Haha ok 👌
My friend wants an egpu for his laptop but it’s a 2009 dell whatever without an m.2 slot so he has to get one that connect via… express card?
Yeah express card
It’s rlly old so there’s prob gonna be a mega bandwidth issue
probably
Not like he would be getting much out of an i7 3720qm anyway 🥴
You connected a 3090 to your laptop?
Is that easy for most laptops?
it really depends on what laptop it is, and what sort of ports inside can be abused. if your laptop has a thunderbolt port, them it is very ez, u just gotta buy pne of the enclosures and put ur gpu in. but if it doesn't u can have a try at using nvme to pcie x16 riser
mine worked after a few trials
but there is no way of utilising the full power of 3090 on a laptop
only do it if you have to
like me
i dont have a pc (although im building one soon)
