Wait, you need another part to control the pump RGB?
Which part
I'm a bit confused on what you connect the pump to
Both a fan and RGB header, correct?
no it comes with a controller that you plug the pump into, from there the controller needs sata + usb header
Right, but if your AIO isn't from corsair and you don't have the Commander controller?
What do you connect the pump to?
The AIO is from corsair, and I do have the commander controller lol
Currently I connect the pump to the controller and the controller to sata
I can't control the RGB without a usb header though
I plan on having 6 fans for my tower, my motherboard has 2 ARGB headers and 7 fan headers. I was planning to install 3 fans for each header, but I wasn't aware that the pump had to be connected to the RGB header as well
Should I purchase a splitter/hub or something
Depends on what connectors you have
I purchased all lian li fans + strimmers
so the 2 controllers for lian li both take a usb header
then corsairs controller for the pump takes one so I'm short.
I literally use 2 of the fan headers and both seem to be for speed control
I've heard of Lian Li's strimmers before, what are they used for? Or are they for pure aesthetic
They seem to be a complete RGB overload, so I'm assuming that's what it's for.
ya literally just eye vomit
So my motherboard should come with everything necessary, but the strimmers are used to replace them and for aesthetic, correct?
Yeah I know.
Your mobo will come with everything you need normally yes.
And your PSU will come with cables
The strimmers plug into existing psu cables to extend them and replace the aesthetics
So strimmers are just aesthetic, got it.
yup
Is that strimmer for the 24-pin?
ya
Cool, cool.
then I have the double 8-pin for the gpu
Wait USBs can be used as a fan/RGB header?
no, but the controllers for the fans/aio/strimmers use usb headers specifically
lol what are you confused on
Okay so
The fans front mounted, the fans on the AIO radiator, and the pump on the AIO all take up headers
Is there anything else I'm missing?
I want to make sure I have enough
What fans/aio are you using
EK D-RGB 360mm, fans are being replaced by the Phanteks F120SK.
So all 6 of my fans will be the Phanteks'
did you get all singles or 2 3 packs?
The case that I purchased, the G360A, already comes with those 3 fans.
Wanted my AIO fans to be the same
So I purchased a 3-pack
the 3 pack will come with an adapter to daisy chain them
so 3 fans will take up 1 fan header
I'm not sure if the case you got came with the adapter or not
Oh
Daisy chain tutorial! I ran into a lot of trouble trying to figure out how to daisy-chain all the fans together. This build daisy-chains the 3 included 140mm fans included with the P500a with 3 additional DRGB SK140mm fans I bought off Amazon in a 3-pack (newegg sells the same thing for a similar price). The each of the 3 additional fans have 1)...
So daisy chaining allows multiple fans to take only one header?
I have an excessive amount of fan headers, though. I'm not worried about that. I'm worried about my ARGB headers.
Since I only have two.
And the pump also needs to be connected to that header, no?
Holy shit those Lian Li strimmers are EXPENSIVE.
$70 USD for a single 24pin cable..
ya....
Yeah...I think I'll stick with my normal PSU cables.
They're black anyways, that's all that matters 😅
Ya how much you invest in aesthetics is totally up to you
I literally went with a worse GPU just because it looked better
and all I really play is osrs so not like it matters
Ah, that's fair
Aesthetics can be important
Just wanted to say, your build looks awesome
Id buy this just in case xD
that gives you 5 total which should be plenty.
Thanks
So there are two types of headers for the fans and pump, correct?
One to determine the speed of the fans and another for the pretty flashing lights
Fan and RGB headers
Got it
How many fans would you say I should use per header?
as many as you can daisy chain which the adapter appears to handle 3
Alright
There appears to be different types of fan headers
CPU_FAN1, PUMP_FAN1, SYS_FAN1-5
Is there any difference between the two headers?
sometimes a mobo will require something plugged into cpu header
a pump will always run at 100% as well
Okay, thanks so much. You and another person helped me out a lot.
I figured it all out. I'm attaching the pump cable to PUMP_FAN1, all 3 radiator fans to CPU_FAN1 via included splitter, and the other 3 case fans at the front to SYS_FAN1-5.
