I liked the idea of having something at my desk I can look at while I'm gaming rather than having one inside the PC that would be a bit challenging to view.

granted I didn't need the 8 pin strimer cable with my existing build. It wouldn't fit but when I originally started I was going to use a B550 motherboard. You can build something similar for a lower cost.
