For my purposes with the round deadlines, it would be cleanest above the round block (i.e. "Winners round 2, etc). But if you're adding it for general use I suppose there might be some value in getting able to customize text for each individual match

Actually, could that text be included in the private DM that the bot sends up each player when their match is ready to start at least? That would go a long way to helping solve my deadline problem.

For example, the bot DMs: "Hello Player A, your next match, against Player B, is ready. You may begin." <Custom text>

Where <Custom Text> could be chosen by me (the TO) to say "The round deadline for this match is Thursday, June 16, 23:00 UTC"

We won't be doing those kind of DMs, the only DMs I can see being done are when people click "register"

And then they get dmd the rules, but because each match is made in a thread, in theory you could just copy and paste a message to each one

regarding the bracket, im not a fan of having a message above each round block, nice idea and i defo see the use case, but nahhh.
let's use this bracket for example. what if we had an area in the top right for example that you could customise, if you were organizer tier, as that's when you get access to other embed/bracket customisation.
you could then put here:

Round 1 to be completed by: <date>
Round 2 to be completed by: <date>
Round 3 to be completed by: <date>

I haven't gotten a chance to use the new Tourney Bot fully yet. Each match ping is now in a thread instead of DMs? (I'm used to the old DM system I guess)

we're not using challonge anymore

we have our own bracket api system

so we can customise it however we like

so in theory.. we could make a perk of premium allow you to modify all the colours of the bracket

or the font

we already allow the background image to be changed

if a player has muted pings on our server (but still gets DMs), will they completely miss notifications for new rounds when they're ready to play?

because of the new thread thing?

so the (now customisable) admin role is pinged in a spoiler, so they're added to all threads, and the players are also pinged so they're added to the thread too
