#The calibration value generates different results

Hi, I'm trying to RNG an egg in Pokémon Emerald on retail, but something is confusing me. Initially, I searched for a PID using PokeFinder and found one I liked with a calibration value of 18. However, when I started the RNG process, I couldn't find that PID in the web app. I noticed the calibration was disabled with a default value of 19, so I enabled it, changed it to 18, and then found the PID I wanted. The problem is, for the past two days, I've been trying to hit this PID on both retail and emulator without success. Can I change the calibration value to find other options, or must I stick with the default value?

you probably can't hit a calibration value of 18, I believe the starting value at Verdanturf is 19

#

which is why it's the default there

#

you should find a target on a higher calibration, and do redraws using the bag/pokedex, to increase the calibration

#

having a roamer active increases it by 1 as well

so i should change the calibration to higher that 19 that is the default?

#

for exaple when i was playing with the values i found this . where it needs 4 times to open the pokedex . so when i open the game the calibraton goes from 20 + ( 4 x 3 ) = 32 , and when i do the one last step it goes to a randon number

thought you said you were on retail?

yes i started on retail but i ended on the emu to find the issue faster

leaving the menu after opening the bag etc, does 4 calibration iirc

#

I personally like doing this in evergrande e4 side, if you're already in the post game

hardy roost
#

this save is 20 years old . im definitely in the post game 😂

#

is it possible to do it there too?

graceful shuttle
#

I prefer this there yea

#

super repel in the spot on the carpet before you drop the mon off, bike till it expires, fly to E4 side, go down 7 tiles? IIRC

#

swap to your lightning rod lead

#

then you buffer the down input with the menu after your timer goes off. 20 calibration is the default for that area without a roamer, iirc

#

I have to double check

#

I think it's 8 steps

it just confuses me more lets say the calibration value of Verdanturf is 19 and for evegrande 20 . i find a pid with calibration 40. so i need to increase the calibration to 40 from 19/20 with the dex opening? and these increments are different than the dex opening number each pid ask you to do?

I presume the website is telling you to open the pokedex to increase the calibration by redrawing the map yes

#

I prefer the bag but I don't think it matters

hardy roost
#

yes but the calibration is 40 in this case and there are options with 32 and 43 dex/bag openings

#

they surpass 40

#

by far

graceful shuttle
#

isn't that calibration 40 the starting calibration

#

I think that's what that box is for

#

not the target calibration, I don't think the website tells you the calibration on those results, just the amount of redraws

hardy roost
#

i dont know what it is. it didnt have any explanation. only "Do not change. Only for advanced users." . i found something else on the glossary

graceful shuttle
#

it's greyed out by default because the tool assumes verdanturf, and checking roamer or not is the only other tweak you'd make. They let you enter something there so you can use a different place with a different starting calib

#

that number should be default if you are in Turf, if you are in E4 without a roamer it should be 20

hardy roost
#

ok i get it so these are the base 2 options depending the place and if i add a different calibration lets say 40 i must further increase that with extra dex openings?

graceful shuttle
#

the tool is trying to do the work for you

#

you put in the starting calibration, and then it spits out results that are hittable + some amount of redraws

#

the final calibration value doesn't super matter in this case

#

I don't have much experience with the website, if you want to do the math yourself you can use lincolns pid tool

hardy roost
#

ok thanks for your time anyway

Thank you i was trying 2 days now
