Which part of the guide is tripping you up?

#

Look at Figure 5

#

I'm going to guess that this is the part that is tripping you up

viscid tide
#

Read this and imitate it, if anything doesn't make sense let me know and I'll explain it in more detail

coral zinc
#

Yea this is tripping me up

viscid tide
#

So what you want to do is, from a fresh seed identification or re-identification, as in no advances have occured since you last checked your seed...

  • Close and reopen the pause menu
  • Re identify your seed again
  • Subtract the amount of advances it took you to re-identify from the total number of advances
    • E.g if 15 advances total, and 7 were used to re-identify, then 8 advances came from closing the pause menu
  • Open the menu close timeline sub-window
  • Tweak the number of NPCs until you see +8 in the first row (inside the jump column)
#

The guide goes into this in more detail

coral zinc
#

rn im at this i had to leave home for a moment

#

so i finished on this

viscid tide
#

Ok, re-identify your seed when you can, keep the pause menu open, and let me know when you have done this

#

Don't do any extra animations or close the pause menu after re-identifying your seed

viscid tide
#

Okay, click update seeds for now

coral zinc
#

done

coral zinc
#

okay so now i search for the npc count

viscid tide
#

Please show screenshots along the way so I can make sure you're doing this right

#

No, close and reopen the pause menu

#

Follow from bullet point 1

coral zinc
#

okay updated seed

#

now reopening menu

#

done

viscid tide
#

Good

#

Click generate and follow step 2

#

Show me a screenshot of retail tools after you've done this

viscid tide
#

Ok, so based on this, how many advances do you think occured from closing the pause menu?

coral zinc
#

10

viscid tide
#

Bingo

#

Now click consider menu close and open the menuclosetimeline sub-window

#

Don't click update seeds, like the guide says

coral zinc
#

okay

viscid tide
#

Is your in-game weather "Normal Weather"? This is the regular sun icon

coral zinc
#

i think so

#

yea

viscid tide
#

Cool

#

Click search, we want to see a +10 jump in the first row

coral zinc
#

do i type in NPCs 1 first?

viscid tide
#

Actually, set your init advances to 0

#

Sure, we can start from 1

coral zinc
viscid tide
#

Perfect, search with 1 NPC

coral zinc
viscid tide
#

That's +6, so increase NPCs to 2 and search again

#

Do this until you see +10

coral zinc
viscid tide
#

Ok, now 3

coral zinc
viscid tide
#

4 etc

coral zinc
#

+10 is on 5

viscid tide
#

Hurray

#

Looks like your NPC count is 5

#

Hopefully now you understand how to calibrate

coral zinc
#

i will find out soon when i get to shiny

viscid tide
#

Yup, make sure consider menu close is checked on the main window with 5 NPCs, and search for your target again

#

The search result table will produce the frame you're expected to close the pause menu on

#

Follow the static guide for more info, it's very clear on how to advance the RNG state in a controlled manner

coral zinc
#

getting closer and closer

coral zinc
viscid tide
#

You can't restart the game, you'll get a new seed and have to start again

#

Your NPC count will be the same if you don't move, though

coral zinc
coral zinc
viscid tide
#

Good luck

#

Pay attention to step 8 btw, as it will throw off your calibration if you unpause while holding a direction if that checkbox is not active, and vice versa

coral zinc
#

hmm should be close

viscid tide
#

Yup!

coral zinc
#

Ill be counting roars now

#

And i should stop on 159th advance

#

Right?

viscid tide
#

Right

#

That's the advance you unpause the game on

coral zinc
#

Well not this time it seems :/

viscid tide
#

Are you standing with spawned Pokemon with you or something

coral zinc
#

yea walerin

#

is there

viscid tide
#

Not your follower, like wild stuff

coral zinc
#

nope

viscid tide
#

Does anything spawn on your walk towards Virizion?

coral zinc
#

nope

viscid tide
#

It's worth double checking both of these things

coral zinc
#

ill just reset game and try again

viscid tide
#

That's one of the only reasons you'd miss

#

I know there are spawners close to Virizion

#

It could also be that you're standing too close to Virizion

coral zinc
#

i dont know any better place for it hmm

#

maybe ill switch on cobalion or terakion

viscid tide
#

Those are harder, Virizion is easy

#

Just stand far enough away to completely despawn it, and despawn any other overworld spawns that are with you
