Trying to understand BDSP fishing, based on the information I can find, you RNG the encounterslot value then RNG abuse the mon, which is easy enough to understand. But I'm curious how I would then hit the shiny spread I'm searching for on Real96's PokeFinder fork.

#

Taking this as an example, advance 492 is the advance to throw the rod into the water to get the encounterslot, but wouldn't frames be consumed before reeling it in? Meaning I'd not be able to hit this one if a threw a rod in at this exact frame

#

I'm gonna guess that I would search for non-shiny targets that contain the encounterslot value I want, then search again for a spread that would be shiny and reel it in, is this correct @civic totem ?

Alright, my understanding seems to be correct

#

Heres an example using Gyarados

#

I picked a frame close to the shiny frame that will grant a hooked gyarados then waited a little bit until the shiny frame before reeling in, delay 0

#

Apologies for the ping! Hopefully this thread helps others though

you just rng the hook first
