[Gen 4] Shiny Starters in HGSS?

I followed the guide and have the correct intial seed and everything but I am a bit confused in regards to the "Advances" in Pokefinder. I am going for the Totodile here. I walked into Elm's lab with LCRNG advances (I think this is what Advances is referring to?) at 153 to include the 12 advances from going to the Pokeballs. My Totodile was not the same and it was not shiny. I also tried walking in when it was at 165 but I got a Shiny Chikorita instead with different stats but the same nature I was going for (Adamant).

the 12 advances are from all 3 pokemon generating

so you shouldnt be accounting for them in that way

you got a shiny chikorita because it is what generates first

chikorita generates on +0 from when you enter the starter selection, cyndaquil on +4, totodile on +8

so do what you did to account for the 12 but account for 8 instead

Chikorita has an initial advance of 1, Cyndaquil 5, Totodile 9
