I decided to try out the new ModInstaller2, mostly to be familiar with it in case someone needs help with something while 1 is donked up.. and it's actually really pleasant now.

I did have to give it an icon, since the .exe doesn't show it as having one (although I know there's one in the Title bar while running). I just used a regular
, because A. I don't have the OmegaPrime one, and B. the prime one doesn't feel as.. icony
Also, to anyone that doesn't want the command prompt part to appear, if you have it launching as a shortcut, you can change the Run shortcut property to Minimized, which will minimize the Command Prompt automatically, but the UI itself launches like normal still
I just looked at a condensed spoiler log for a room rando, and immediately I spotted a tiny typo:
Geo_Rock-Depenest_Lower_Cornifer
instead of
Geo_Rock-Deepnest_Lower_Cornifer
this seems to be the only room name with that error. If anyone cares about fixing it lol

I was thinking is you have a memory card you could like put it in a computer or something but i don't know how memory cards and computers work that much, it was just a little idea I thought of because I want to mod my game and wanted to see if anyone would try it

Programs don't typically just "random"ly stop working. You'd probably want to try restarting your computer. If that doesn't work, then you may need to uninstal and then reinstall Sprite Packer

If you wanna use the Krita plugin, you need to use Italy's version of GODump, which should make the sprites folder correctly so SpritePacker should work

If anyone has done the Path of Pain Wind mod before, does anyone have tips for doing the Kingsmould fight at the end hitless? The rest of the thing, yeah it's hard, but it doesn't seem almost impossible to no hit like the kingsmould section specifically. Shriek tosses you into the right kingsmould, descending dark does, shade soul does, etc. So I don't get it
Just stay on the right of them both and you won't get blown right
I want to say that's the equivalent of "just don't get hit lol", but it legitimately worked 😔. I managed to fight them only getting hit once, which made it very clear not getting hit at all is possible

@steel grove You can edit the cost of your charms by modifying your save file (either using the .json created by the QoL mod, or by using an online save editor. If you want to actually edit what their stats are though, you'll have to create a mod for it (which is why the other person mentioned #archived-modding-development ). I'm unsure if that's what you were really intending to do though.
There are some mods that have different charms, and mods that improve your stats.
What .json file? The pinned message about updating those settings didn't mention a .json file

my friend is making a skin and has been using the spritepacker, but is there a common known way to get rid of duplicate frames in the animation folders from godump, so they don't end up making the same frames over and over just to inevitably have to overwrite it in the end?

i was just asking how other skin makers have gotten around eventually doing the same frames over and over and over, i might just be missing osmething obvious
unsure how accurate using the last number to only do one of it would be, because it's not always correct (?)
look at the last number in the frame names, that's a unique identifier for each sprite. so you only need to edit that once, and have spritepacker replace the sprites from future animations with that every so often, so you don't accidentally do one twice
there's one instance i know of where the last number is not correct (the 9th frame of the run animation isn't used and the 6th frame of slash is used instead), there may be more but I haven't run into them
some look similar but have like, a slightly different cloak position

I have a problem to address, my sister found this game and introduce it to me, and now I'm close to the first ending, she still in Dirtmouth because...she has a phobia for caterpillar, LOL.
So I'm wondering if there's any way to change appearance of specific character by MOD? I want to change the grubs to something else so that she can enjoy this game. haha.
for now the only skin mod is only for ghost the main character well if your request it for some modders maybe they made one for you
Yeah, you would need to make your own mod, but like Katie says, it has been done with other sprites, so it is entirely possible.
I think if you were able to provide the sprites somebody would be willing to put it in the game.

What's word to me, is that I seem to recall finding a file generated by 1 that had the descriptions, but afaik the installer itself doesn't display them anywhere.

I have found a new point in 𓀬's Mod Installer:
It notably adds any mods that are in the disabled folder to the mod list, where as Mod Installer 2 appears to only show mods from the drive.

@random wraith Is there a way to launch Mod Installer 2 in a verbose mode? I tried launching it through command prompt, as well as with common verbose flags, but nothing seems to work.
For some reason a lot of people are running into an issue where disabling a mod with it is crashing the launcher completely. A work around is that uninstalling / reinstalling mods seems to work fine for those people, but it seems silly to do that instead of just having the files swap folders. I figured maybe it'd be helpful to figure where the problem is if the launcher was giving info about it.

Would it be ok to share a skin that i have edited? for example, the hornet skin. in the original, when you used it in-game, it had these white edges around it, not to mention some stray pixels. If i went ahead and cleaned it up on my own free time, on my own free will, would it be ok to let others use it?

I assume the white fuzzy pixels around the border is because of the technique they used to make it- like possibly they did the line work, then on another layer they used a brush to make the fill color, but accidentally went over the edges a bit (or a similar kinda thing).

If you were to make the HP "liquid" like soul, then I imagine it'd work, but idk how you'd best deal with lots of HP still. Not to mention, what is "max HP" in Hollow Knight (I tihnk there is a number for it, but some things seem like they'd have weird interactions with this style of HP, such as Joni's Blessing)

Presumably somehow. The default action of the game is just to copy the correct make sprite and add it to the end of the line of masks as needed. I would imagine that there's no reason that you can't create a mod that changes that behavior slightly. I've heard any of the UI stuff is a bit wonky to learn, but it'd probably be pretty cool once it was all finished

For the multiplayer mod, if I want to play through the game with a friend, does it allow for a good experience? I heard enemies and bosses don't sync up so that wouldn't be very fun
The Multiplayer Mod just syncs the Knights of each players. Nothing else. You can both start a fresh save, and have most things pretty syncd up (especially if you both play the same frame rate, and try to enter transitions at the same time), but you're essentially each playing your own game with an person(s) around. You can enable PVP if you want to hinder eachother, but that could easily lead you both to just avoiding one another.
So, if you are interested in that, then go for it. If not, then do something else imo
If you've both beaten the game before, then I'd suggest playing a MultiWorld Rando together. That's pretty fun. Some people have even been playing MultiWorld with Multiplayer, which sounds like it leads to fun times

Playing Multiplayer won't give a very vanilla co-op experience, if that's what you/he want. The current common Multiplayer mod runs into issues after running for an extended period of time, and there's a sillyness from the desync stuff and whatnot that will really take-away from the vanilla experience, imo

The version that is currently in the TWP Google Drive is slightly messed up (it has some an named file, some extra files, and files that are in an additional .zip for seemingly no reason).
I downloaded the skin and corrected it to what it should be on my local system, and would like to post the .zip of the corrected one (or send it to you or someone) so that it can be fixed on there, without asking someone else to fix it.
I only ask because a lot of people like that skin, and commonly ask how to fix it; so I would just like to fix it at the source :)

I'd say browse the mod summaries to see what looks good to you, since "fun" is so subjective.
Personally, I like Rando (randomizer 3), and like to play with everything shuffled, in a random start location.
Rando has companion mods, like random map mod, and bingo ui (plus the dependencies, like QoL and Benchwarp; and all of those require ModCommon, Vasi, and SereCore)
Doing a fresh playthrough with either Hollow Point or Lightbringer is interesting. Both make the gameplay feel pretty different.

Here are the ideas from my Steam posts: "After defeating/killing each boss, a randomized charm would drop to the floor, and Godseeker would only move on after you pick it up. Each charm would have two effects, a "base effect" after picking it up for the first time, and a "stacking effect" for each subsequent copy picked up.

Random question, is there an arachnophobia mod for changing deepnest enemies? I'd assume a sprite swap wouldn't be a hard mod, but does one exist?
With the mod, all charms will be removed upon starting P5. Every time a boss is killed, a charm will drop to the center of the arena. Once you pick up a charm, the screen will transition to a room where you can view the charm that you just picked up. Each charm has a base affect, taking place immediately upon acquisition, and a stacking affect, stacking for each duplicate of the charm you pick up. To handle the power that you get, each of the bosses in P5 will have their ascended damage and health values. The standard Lifeblood break rooms will appear normally.
