  • If the Skin List is covering up other mods, you can toggle it with Del or Fn+Del. You can edit this Keybind in the Custom Knight menu.
  • If your skin doesn’t show up in the menu, ensure that you extracted it from the zip/rar/etc it came in (tutorial: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1207486627124093019/1403869873192571024/i.png).
  • If your skin doesn’t work, go to Options > Mods > Custom Knight > Advanced > Fix My Skins. After this you may need to click Reload in the previous menu.
    • Upgraded Dream Shield (UDS) breaks Custom Knight’s first launch. To use both mods at once: disable UDS, open a save with only Custom Knight and wait until it stops lagging. You can then close the game and enable UDS again.
  • If you see White Boxes ◻️, restart your game. You may also need to apply skins in a small room like a stag station.
  • Ensure that you apply skins from the Pause Menu when your save file is loaded. Skins applied from the Main Menu only affect new files.

Most skins should already have everything in the correct spot. You can check the Default skin to see everything that's included in just the normal folder

There have also been some formatting changes over different version but CK will take care of that when it's loaded in game (like charms have their own folder now, but you don't need to worry about moving them)

For BingoUI - IC's charm item calls the "CountCharms" method for base-game. Hooking this method in a way that also evaluates for your custom charm bools should cover that end. That's what the lines you quoted do, and since this would add to what Transcendence also adds, they should be compatible.

Transcendence does add to the logic PM in a weirder way I'm not sure how it works but is defined here: https://github.com/dpinela/Transcendence/blob/cc97d50f2506bcb698865608b64e13fe3b477ba4/Transcendence/Transcendence.cs#L843

Yeah CharmItem would be ideal but the problem is how PC charms are implemented doesn't follow the gotCharmX standard normal charms have. I should review that tho.

Salubra recognizing charms as in checking how many charms are required for an item should also be fixed by the same fix for the UI since the cost probably looks at that same variable

Save Files

What do save files looks like?

  • Each Hollow Knight save file is a user#.dat where # is the save slot for the file
  • You can rename user3.dat to user1.dat to set it to your first save slot
  • You can keep a copy of all of your save files by copy and pasting them into a different folder on your computer

Reverting Backups

  • Automatic backups are called user#.dat.bak#, where the first # is the save slot, and the second # is the backup number. You will usually have your last three backups
  • You restore a backup by deleting the main file, and then removing the .bak# part of the backup version

Modded Saves

  • A modded save may also have a user#.modded.json (and similarly named backup). This file and the user#.dat are part of the save

Not sure why you're asking in the modding channel? But if you're experiencing overheating maybe try playing in shorter segments (stopping before it gets hot). But also if it's an older laptop you might need your thermal paste redone or something.

That would quickly become a convoluted system I think. Then you have 3 categories of image perms, for a few channels you can always send images (help channels), a few where you can self assign (modding channels) and channels where you need the message tied perm.

I think what Roma said, that when someone is active enough in the hollow knight community to be determined to put a lot of hours in a skin, they probably have 300 messages here is true. That not being true is a possibility but that's already so rare that I think it's okay to "force" people to use imgur or whatever in that case as it seems pretty rare. The scams are so much more common anyway

  1. Not really, that depends on what you want to do
  2. If you just want to unlock the fight you can install GodSeekerPlus to unlock GodSeeker mode and start a new save in GodSeeker mode.
    Also picking the channel based on its activity isn't recommended (although in this case you are in the right channel), if you pick an active but unrelated channel your message just gets buried by people who won't be able to answer

Is there a way to like clean install the mod loader? I had scarab before I swapped to lumafly a few days ago and I've been having a lot of problems with it. My mods won't load no matter what I do, my saves also won't load, and it doesn't even show the loading bar when launching. I think having the leftovers from scarab might be causing problems, correct me if I'm wrong and yes I did downpatch my game. I am on a mac by the way.

Common issues

  • If the Skin List is covering up other mods, you can toggle it with Del or Fn+Del. You can edit this Keybind in the Custom Knight menu.
  • If your skin doesn’t show up in the menu, ensure that you extracted it from the zip/rar/etc it came in (tutorial: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1207486627124093019/1403869873192571024/i.png).
  • If your skin doesn’t work, go to Options > Mods > Custom Knight > Advanced > Fix My Skins. After this you may need to click Reload in the previous menu.
    • Upgraded Dream Shield (UDS) breaks Custom Knight’s first launch. To use both mods at once: disable UDS, open a save with only Custom Knight and wait until it stops lagging. You can then close the game and enable UDS again.
  • If you see White Boxes ◻️, restart your game. You may also need to apply skins in a small room like a stag station.
  • Ensure that you apply skins from the Pause Menu when your save file is loaded. Skins applied from the Main Menu only affect new files.
