How it works

I don't really think they are many silksong mods worth playing rn
there are some convenience stuff, or stuff to mimic what a godhome would be
there are some modded bosses, but you won't find many mods which rebalance the game in an interesting way, its much much too early

So I've been looking through the code in the Managed folder, and it seems like I'm missing something. I see the truck-load of booleans in PlayerData, but I can't find anywhere that's actually referencing these bools. How would I go about finding those references, if it's even possible? Also not seeing any references to bosses, except for their respective booleans

Just tested it out, plays pretty well. I hope the creator adds more map interactions down the line. it'd be nice to be able to beat the game as the knight. as it stands the inability to use clawline, needolin and silksoar really hold it back.
Also hope we get a progression mod to link all charms/abilities to their silksong equivilents. Grubsong to druid's eye, or quickheal to injector bands

• 99% of the time, this is because you accidentally set a keybind in debug (or are pressing a button that is one of the default Binds). Note that depending what changes you were accidentally making, simply uninstalling Debug won't fix it.

How to fix

• Pause the game, then press F1 on your keyboard to open the Debug interface.
  • If it doesn't work at first, try pressing Fn + F1. If that still doesn't work, then go to Options > Mods > DebugMod and then you can set a new button to open it
• The Binds panel will list a few options on each page. If you don't see the problem on the current page, then press the ▶️ at the bottom of the panel to see the next page.
• When you find the Bind that you want to remove, press the White Circle ⚪ to the right of it, then press Esc on your keyboard to remove the bind.

How it works

HKMP puts a copy of each player into each other players world.
Enemies have separate health and will usually be in different places; Items/abilities must be collected separately; and Breakable objects must be broken by each player. Player attacks happen in each player's world, damaging any enemies/players it comes in contact with. A player is only hurt by the enemies in their own world. This page explains how you can use other mods and addons to synchronize some aspects, and improve your experience.

Modding "Xbox Games" versions (Gamepass / Microsoft's App Store):

Note: this is for Desktop/Laptop. You cannot mod the game on Xbox consoles

• Use Lumafly (it has additional support for this version that other installers currently don't have)
  • Download: https://themulhima.github.io/Lumafly?download
  • Make sure that the Lumafly's exe isn't in Downloads. Ideally put it on your Desktop.
• Right-Click the Lumafly.exe and select "Run as Administrator"
  • It should automatically find the install and ask if it's correct. If it doesn't find it, then you will need to link it to the Hollow Knight.exe found in C:\XboxGames\Hollow Knight\Content by default.
• After installing / installing any mods, wait about a minute before launching the game (this is because Windows does a weird thing for Xbox Games things, and it makes copies of files).
  If you have further issues, then please see #1090079233520451714 and create a #1057825333841240104 post if needed.

Important paths

• Save Files: %AppData%\..\Local\Packages\
  • Find a folder in here with Team Cherry in the name.
• Game Files: C:\XboxGames\Hollow Knight\Content\
• Mod Files: C:\XboxGames\Hollow Knight\Content\hollow_knight_Data\Managed\Mods\
• Note: Microsoft manages this install weirdly and syncs its files to inaccessible folders, so changes may need a few minutes to take effect and bugs with installing or uninstalling mods can occur.

One of the things TS installers do is actually keep your game files clean, and they keep the mods files on the side, then only launch your game modded if you specifically do so

interestingly enough, forcing vulkan in 1221 does work, and is actually letting me play 1221 for the first time as I had to do some optimizations for it to load KP...

Fixing Common issues on Linux/SteamDeck

• Controller Doesn't Work / [Some Mod] isn't working!
  • By default (especially on SteamDeck) Steam may be using Proton and installed the Windows version of the game. This can have problems on it's own, but also causes issues because the Mod Installers will install the Linux version of the ModdingAPI, which isn't fully compatible with the Windows version.
  • How to Fix: Go to the HK Library page, select Properties -> Compatibility, check "Force the use of a specific steam play compatibility tool", and select "Steam Linux Runtime" (Note: not the sniper or soldier versions)
    • After this you'll need to select "Change Paths" in your Mod Installer and change it to the new install path (which you can get by using the "Browse Local Files" option in Steam, then reinstall your mods.
    • If using a Playstation/Nintendo controller, see this information.
• Game crashes or has visual glitches when starting / while playing!
  • Add -force-opengl to the steam launch arguments. Note: This can be a problem even if playing Vanilla, but it is commonly seen when Modding because of the greater resources used.
• Mods not saving correctly / loading correctly
  • This can happen if the Permissions in your Hollow Knight install get messed up. You can fix this by making sure that the current user (or all users) have permissions for the Hollow Knight install directory and subdirectory & files. If you are unfamiliar with how to do this, then you can open terminal, use CD "~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/" to get to the Steam Apps directory, and then use sudo chmod -R 777 "Hollow Knight" to update the permissions for the install so that all users can access it.

Hello! It's fine to use RenoDX with Background blur improved, the mod doesn't alter any shader code just some game logic. I'm fact, it's recommended. There's am upcoming fix in RenoDX that will fix an issue with this mod (slightly offset the background, when using more passes)

There's None, Vanilla (Blur), 8+2 Dither, and 10+2 Dither. I'm assuming Vanilla (Blur) is just the game's Vanilla dithering option but idk what the last 2 are.

  • Upgraded Dream Shield (UDS) breaks Custom Knight’s first launch. To use both mods at once: disable UDS, open a save with only Custom Knight and wait until it stops lagging. You can then close the game and enable UDS again.
• If you see White Boxes ◻️, restart your game. You may also need to apply skins in a small room like a stag station.
• Ensure that you apply skins from the Pause Menu when your save file is loaded. Skins applied from the Main Menu only affect new files.
