Mods/Controller not working correctly on Steam Deck
Issue: Steam Deck installs the Windows version of HK, then runs it in proton. This would be fine except that you install Linux Scarab, which replaces the Assembly-Csharp with the Linux version, and then it doesn't like to work correctly on "Windows" anymore

Solution: Go to the HK Library page, select Properties -> Compatibility, check "Force the use of a specific steam play compatibility tool", and select "Steam Linux Runtime" (Note: not the sniper or soldier versions)

This will reinstall the Linux version of the game, and move some files around, so you'll need to select "Change Paths" in Scarab and change it to the new install path, then reinstall your mods. After this, everything should be working.

happens when you put a bench somewhere the game really doesn't want you to put one on

the solution is too deinstall benchwarp

and install benchwarpfix

load into the file

and you should get placed right in dirthmouth

This is a known issue, and Custom Knight is not considered compatible with HP.
Here's steps that sometimes work for people (but if they don't, then you'll just need to play with the default skin):

• Open the desired Save File, pause and Apply the skin in the Mods Menu.

Some mods are not on scarab like pantheon of nightmares and impossible%
How do I download them?

They aren't mods by themselves, they are maps created for mods that allow to create custom challenges. For pantheon of nightmares you need to install the mod called CustomPantheons and manually install the pantheon of nightmare in its files, for impossible any% you need to mod called DecorationMaster. Read their readmes (click the link in their descriptions in scarab) to see how to install maps, If the readmes don't have a link to the maps I'll see if I can find them for you

Pantheon of Nightmares would require playing on 1432, fwiw, because it has some custom tweaks to bosses to work correctly, and that is only on 1432

With scarab+ you can click "manually install" in the bottom left corner and it should tell you to select the dll of the mod you want to manually install. Note that Satchel is a dependency of any radiance, which means that you need to install this mod to get any rad to work, it's on scarab so you can install it directly with the installer

🔹 How it works:

HKMP puts a copy of each player into each other players world. Enemies have separate health and can be in different places; items/abilities must be collected separately; breakable objects must be broken separately.
A player's attack will happen in each player's world, damaging any enemies/players it comes in contact with. A player is only hurt by the enemies in their own world.

🔹 Public Servers:

For general use (PVP enabled)

For exclusively co-op (PVP disabled)

Requires HkmpPouch

For playing Tag

Important note: "Invalid Addons" means that you have extra HKMP addons that can't be used on the server. Pouch servers can have any Addons that say that they require Pouch, but you otherwise cannot use others!

Hello I’m not new to modding but I’m not an expert or anything. I hadn’t played for like a year so I’m a bit rusty.

I had a lot of trouble spending time to update my mods today cuz they weren’t working

Then I realized that the old scarab doesn’t work for the new patch. Then I had to spend like 3 hrs trying to uninstall and reinstall the correct update for hollow knight itself as well as get the new scarab+

Old scarab does work for the latest patch

Scarab+ just fixes a bunch of issues

Steam should automatically have the latest patch installed

I'm not sure what part of that took 3 hours? Changing patch & getting scarab are both quite quick unless you have very slow internet. Or do you mean figuring out that was the needed solution?

I don’t currently have fast internet cuz my family moved recently so I’ve had to use hotspot. And the 3hours was mostly for the problem solving

But Atleast the good thing is that it worked

To make a skin? None. Because making a skin is just drawing pictures. Many many many pictures.

Well it just said scarab was outdated snd needed the latest version so I did, and then it seemed to work

But then when I went to launch hk that was when the missing executable error came
