So I know this is kind of a late reply, sorry for which, I totally forgot I sent this msg. But Iirc you need to own one of the dlcs to access master mode, forgot which one though but it doesn’t matter since you need to buy the expansion pass anyway cuz that’s the only way to get the DLCs currently.
Idk I personally just find it weird that you have to buy a dlc to access something that was accessible in the previous games by just beating them once.
