Lost Kin is still infected, but the POST-BATTLE SPRITE which Ghost listens to after the fight is NOT INFECTED
Which means lost kin intended the dream boss to be one last chance to meet their sibling even if it’s only in a dream, but is still forced to watch themself try to kill his own loved one

And after the fight, it’s the last and only time they get to actually "speak" to Ghost, even if only for a few moments as their Dream Essence fades away. And it can't even speak.

And oh yeah, it gets even worse. In Godhome, the Knight can re-fight Broken Vessel or Lost Kin. And every single time, it’s infected. Every single time, they have to watch themselves fight their own sibling, as a crowd of Godseekers also watch from the sidelines. And it happens over and over, never ending, never letting the broken vessel rest in peace, because in the dream world it’s still infected, yet the Knight HAD to fight.
