Optimally you should actually just use both depending on what pattern the boss is giving you
Most bosses have patterns which you can’t punish with nail, patterns which you can’t punish with spells, so you just need to know how to use both
And also buff both with shaman quick slash strength

shaman is indeed good you guys are right about that, however it also depends on how much spells one uses on their first playthrough. most people hardly use spells on first run so idk. It does depend is my point. Same with nail arts.

from the first 4 pantheons, I found that I underutilize shaman stone the most, on p4. Although its very good on Markoth and watcher knights to be honest.
