It may be the case that Lace's motivations are opposed to those of the Citadel's Caste and that she believes the best way to go about achieving her goals would be to simply kill Hornet. That would make for an interesting dynamic tbh, since Hornet herself was the same in HK but has since risen above what she was.

Continuing on, I think The Citadel are usurpers of whatever was previously going on in Pharloom, but they have been so for a long enough time that nobody alive remembers the previous rule so it's accepted as fact. I think Lace and her group want to get rid of the Citadel and return to the previous "natural" state. I also think this would be another mirror of Hollow Knight themes: In HK, PK wanted to defy nature by wanting to preserve something eternally, by preventing change.

In HK Hornet tried to kill TK even though THK was doomed to fail. Ideally she wanted TK kill Rad permanently, but believed it would be better to not risk TK entering the Black Egg unprepared and free Rad prematurely. In SS I suspect it'll be similar. If Lace kills Hornet the Citadel's Caste may eventually succeed but it'll take them a long time to do so. Ideally Hornet will destroy the Citadel's Caste permanently (which may or may not require Lace's help) but the worst case scenario would be them getting Hornet and succeeding, which Lace aims to prevent by killing her.

Hello #sk-discussion regulars, today I have come here to share my opinions about Silksong. I personally think its a fucking bad trash game and it's absolutely disgusting just because how the game fucking works. Like oh my fucking god, crests? Is this a hollow knight ripoff??? Team cherry couldnt have figured out something more ORIGINAL to add to this game for fucks sake. And also the map and things, yeah sure, the map is larger but that makes it soo longer to play the game like its a billion times larger than your average mobile game!!! I dont have time for this game. Also theres no zote nor sharp shadow so its 0/10 automatically. I cannot think of any memes besides ass jim which makes this game absolutely horrible and ass jim is also terrible. At least one thing i have in common with this chat is that we think that ass jim is terrible. But like i cant stand this game. It feels like a cheap copy of hk and metroid and also castlevania even. Biggest metroidvania my ass. Every area in this game is made to waste your time and nothing else. Also this game is soo much easier than hk that i took 10 hours to finish the entire game. Hk took like 490 hours for me to defeat since its at least hard and challenging. I cant believe there werent any masochism challenges in this game at all even. No godhome or anything. Just old and bland, even boring bosses and enemies. The skills make no difference and its only there as a toy for you to play with and not even useful at all. And the scenery feels so empty that i become bored while looking at this game. Everything in this feels like a direct copy of hk and i am so incredibly disappointed by tc. They are worse than they wre before. Like look at ugly jesus vs mummy and hungry knight. Those were gold games that i enjoyed and spend 490 hours on. Not silksong.
