I honestly don't see how it being a prequel or sequel is too relevant to the game's story and lore atm. We know it delves into Hornet's past so it definitely takes place after Hornet has grown up a bit but other than that it's irrelevant imo. TC have gone on record to say they want Silksong to be able to be someone's first HK game so I don't think they'll restrict themselves to being a strict sequel or prequel. Plus, it seems Silksong and Pharloom will be mostly self-contained outside of Hornet herself and her connections so that calls into question the importance of the game being a sequel or prequel even more.
