If you're skilled enough you can win a ton of runs in a row even with the worst items. That's a very important part of their design

My point stands still, the record for the highest win-streak in Isaac is over 1000 (with an RNG character aswell, "Eden"), and this person is still going on afaik.
Previous record was about 909 wins in a row and they loose because of a human mistake, not even due to the RNG

Honestly, looking at Dead Cells in general, it's not as good as I thought it would be compared to other roguelikes

They only work because if you die to them you've got to do 15 minutes of a different run to get to them again

So yeah it's designed to have theorically every runs finishable

But as bosses, they are bad. That's what I hate about roguelikes, among other things

The difficulty is making you take long to try again

Like, yeah, it's addicting and fun to explore, but after, idk, 5/10 hours into the game, if you saw everything the game had to show you at that point, you would just be trying to get into the final boss and failing over and over again, with each run being 30 minutes long

The hours of playtime you get from the game have much less new content than other genres

But the thing with Dead Cells is that, imo, the exploration part of the game just feels worthless after you feel like you're not progressing in the game itself

I think the metroidvania elements are just an attempt to keep some areas from you at first so that you don't get bored at the fifth run

Yeah, to me, Dead Cells just feels empty to even explore, it's always just "Go to the next area quickly as you can", but you also need to explore the areas in order to get more upgrades and etc, but that's also just too boring to do

What routes you take matter, you decide your final boss, enemy types, environmental weaknesses, etc

Fire builds have no business fighting mama tick, for example

If you’re trying to get speed doors, you’ll choose areas that are smaller, if you’re going for chests and food shops, you’ll pick areas like the village

Areas aren’t locked off for steam refund timing, they’re locked behind skill checks
