It's the map and the quest designs

I can't play Ubisoft games any more at all because of the map and the way they do quests/missions/etc

Every single thing of interest gets marked on your HUD or on your map

It doesn't feel like you're interacting with a mysterious, strange, new world. It feels like you're playing a game.

Stop marking every single NPC, quest location, vendor, gatherable material, interact able, collectible, enemy, and point of interest on the map.

Force me to engage with the world. Make me explore and look around and discover things on my own.

Valhalla was ALMOST there. They offer an "exploration" difficulty level where stuff only shows up on the map after youve located it, but even still every single quest you do has one of 3 possible rewards: experience points, currency, gear.

And they're color coded so you know which is which before you even get there.

It's lame.

Luckily, I think a lot of devs are looking at Elden ring right now as inspiration for the correct way to do open world RPGs so hopefully some copycats start popping up and we can get decent open world games again.
