Nice! I played some with a friend the other day and we both went into Survivors of the Void for the first time and I will say one thing and one thing only:
The green flying bats give me nightmares now.

While I don't play much games, to confirm there are some which actually implement this, i think games should try to implement a non-HUD status indicators of how the player (or even NPCs/enemies) actually feel in a given moment.

This would give an important boost to immersion, especially for HUDless scenarios, or even some real "next-gen" stuff.

A few examples:
I was pleasantly surprised to see in DarkSouls 2 (sigh) that the character would actually look tired/wounded when his HP were low. Unfortunately, this feature got removed/lost in subsequent games
In resident Evil games, the character would start holding his arm when hurt, or even trudge when near death.
in Death Stranding, Sam tends to lose his balance (along with speaking out how he feels) the more he gets wounded/tired.

Further developments on this could even lead to special interactions/status effects like:
the impossibility to correctly wield a weapon/item
a direct reflector light beam could prevent the character from seeing well (or even stun him) for a while.
a severe chest trauma could leave the character wheezing and impaired.

and yeah the Dead Space 2 is a good example of incorporating health without being an obvious UI

Personally I do not like that extra "inmersion" that maybe the ui minimalism could give... I would prefer both that kind of in game ui and an external hud

But I mean... I personally do not play inmersive games (because my pc cant run them) but yeah I can see it being useful for resident evil and dead space
