Even went as far to keep demon infighting a mechanic

well the reason is has the same barebone essentials is because thats what Doom set the bar for in fps games

but yeah. Doom eternal keeps the base doom combat loop: enemy prioritization, demon encounter synergy, level design (in regards to how encounters, guns, and secrets are designed) and most of the demon roster

falters and a bunch of the guns too

whats different is that a bunch of other, modern, mechanics have been appended to this core combat loop

You might face the same encounters in doom as you sometimes do Doom eternal,

but now you can basically fly, have to manage ammunition, are no longer playing in a survival oriented fashion, and everything moves a little faster

Root and freeze are great. Don't get hyped for chronobaubles though

mithrix is the only boss in the game where chronobaubles matter, because his movement speed is the scariest part
