stuff like the mechanics themselves are a bit slippier to measure, but with enough game testers and observing the learning and improvement of their playing when introduced to new mechanics you can objectively tell when a game is quicker at teaching or when a game is better at introducing a mechanic overall

honestly this started in 2020 I was just trying to combine two potential settings I had thought off, one was an idea for a story and one was mainly a magic system, neither have had much impact on what I'm developing now. A lot of stuff has been left on the side for long enough that it doesn't really fit with the rest of the canon anymore

it was originally a mostly story based idea, basically a world created by a group of 7 gods before the rest of the universe, specifically as a game to decide who gets what role in the universe they're going to create. They each create a group of people who they lead through politics and civilisation building and war, to try and prove they're the fittest for their job.
there's a whole lot with half incarnated fallen gods, demigod children, a quest to save the world not only from war but from literally the planet just being destroyed after the gods are done with it.
It ends with them winning, and the world being placed into the new universe as it is woven around it.

I then very quickly realised a world adapting to changes in everything as nature, physics, magic, and the very sky changes around them and the civilisations and religions that come after that were a lot more interesting so I focused on that, the original story still exists in a decayed form as folklore, but I don't know how much of it is true anymore

I think what is at least considered true at the period in time I'm mostly focusing on when worldbuilding is that something happened like 800 years ago, there's a lot of old apparently magical relics that don't work anymore but there are clear records of them working and then stopping working, most myths have similar timelines with a great change happening, and there is some hard evidence for there being some form of gods, or at least powerful pan-planar beings

I'm not sure if I agree or not with that. Yeah sure it doesn't fits with the base game so well, but at the same time I think a separate game mode only makes it "too much" could make people completely ignoring it. Plus there's some cases where you don't necessarily want all the stuff on the overworld (all charms, notches, masks etc..) to play Godhome. It would be kinda lame having to gather every single thing in the base game in order to unlock the game mode, I assume some people don't want that and would find this tedious

The gamemode is doing that, and even the current version tho, but godhome in the main game isn't. Like for example I want to play with the Kingsoul for the meme, so not transforming it into Void Heart, I could in the base game. That's a bit more flexible
(On a side note there is a speedrun category called "godhome ending" and people can go for godhome without having to loose time collecting stuff, so if you need a 106% this thing is pointless, it's just 112%)
