Hey hey hey. I haven't seen the Edge issue on silksong or the E3 demo or any of the story reveals, BUT, what if Hornet is traversing this kingdom trying to free the minds of the bugs from the control of various higher beings, basically becoming like the Pale King.
And the completion bonus is a cutscene where she has ascended above all life in the kingdom, until the Void Beast invades her dreamspace, with the game ending ambiguous as to whether or not they recognized each other.

3 years ago, silksong had been in development for about 6 months. I would bet a lot that the only parts of the games that looked as polished as the trailer, were the scenes in the trailer. Game trailers are meant to entice you, not "tell the truth" and be a representation of the full game
