She isn't a normal maiden, ||you the player are a tarnished without a "finger maiden" which is why you can't level up. She acts as one but stresses that she ISN'T one and may not be able to always help you and apologizes for that. Her dialogue in the network test is super spoilery so I won't say it outright but she seems pivotal to the plot, fromsoft knew maidens typically had no function besides helping you so they wanted to give her real motives||

I meant that stats seem to have more of an impact, like more items needing strength/magic/or magic items, fall damage greatly decreasing with dex, summons needing more and more fp. So you may end up with more rounded stats than previously thought. That's what game journalists say anyway

you could wind up pretty well-rounded but i think it's more about giving each stat a clear niche rather than making every stat necessary

i think i heard something along these lines, but the context i heard it in was more about allowing all builds to thrive in a pve setting, so you don't run into an enemy or a boss that's extremely resistant to the damage type your build revolves around or something like that

the only stats i worry about are mind and arcane, and i'm not that concerned about mind given how good some of the spells and ashes look

Also the way the story teller describes it and the website says ||what we play through is actually a far far ways in the past of elden ring's world. The more cynical perspective is that if you make your game 30 bucks and gain 100% more profit, but miss out on 50-70% of your previous customer base, plus less people from outside the customer base even consider your “indie” game , you lose profits by increasing the price.

Egh...agree to disagree. I tend to viee a games worth based on how much content is has and how much of what it does I enjoy and find fun.

I've put around 900 hours into HK across 4 platforms and the last few years, and I've bought it 9 times.

$15 is cheap for a game I can squeeze that much time out of.

AAA games, however, accrue a very large amount of risk, both in the development process and initial investment. This is the drawback of a mass market: mass marketability.
