I was thinking that there would be one bed in the game, and when Hornet sleeps on it she’ll have dreams about mother, and the kidnapping, and other stuff. Then after that cutscene, there would be a really cool Safe Haven area in Hornet’s own little dream area that you can walk around where you can find a door that leads to the “Vault of Memories” - the alternative to the Hall of Gods in Hollow Knight where you can refight every boss.

Team cherry started working on Hollow Knight 6 months before the Kickstarter. The Kickstarter was made in november 2014. So november-minus 6= May 2014.

The game was released in 02/24/2017 and they finished it three days before that.

So the game was developed since may 2014 until 02/21/2017. Which is 2 years and 10 months. Or 1030 days aproximately.
