these are permadeath games that tends to be very deep and shit, thing is eventually other games took on the "roguelike" permadeath thing and integrated it into their game

the original RL community got pissed, they want these top down oldschool style games because the lack of graphical fidelity allowed it to do extremely indepth systems that cant really be done in graphical games (ie for exaple, Cataclysm would have mechanics such as suffocating you if you tried setting a fire in a sewer because the smoke would kill you)

so eventually they pushed against the new wave of roguelikes and wanted to call them Roguelites instead, where they only have Roguelike elements such as permadeath

That didnt really stick well for the majority considering Roguelike is now associated with stuff like Hades and Dead Cells, and has now instead labeled themselves as "Traditional Roguelikes"

basically taverns would have dwarves drinking everywhere and spilling alcohol, back then the game only used liquid on surfaces by a measurement of a unit

cats would go around taverns and absorb the alcohol in their fur, then the cat would clean themselves by licking themselves

since 1 unit of alcohol isnt an exact measurement, this meant cats would die from alcohol poisoning

Not like they shoot projectiles like a shotgun

Their movements can be a bit random/troll-ish when they goes higher, they have a lot of HP especially if your gear is weak (at least it feels like it) but that's all for me

Not only do crystal hunters suck more, but they are often placed in rooms where their suckiness is compounded by the context of the encounter, like crystal mound and the dark room in CP
