The API is updated together once a new HK update is released

so if you use a functionality for your mod that gets changed in the API, it will essentially cause an error

which is why devs tends to wait for a stable release before releasing an API if the update is big enough

if say, a function in the API allows you to call it the reduce soul by an X amount, and i used that function in my mod to take soul everytime i do something (say shoot gun)

and they do an update that changes stuff revolving soul usage etc, the API will most likely have to changed in accordance to the code, which means your mod will be attempting to use that old way which will essentially throw an exception and render your mod useless

if the stuff your mod uses doesnt get touched, most likely its gonna work on the next API version

thing is if your mod is huge af, that means youll be interacting with a lot of hooks and functions which will DEFINITELY change on update
