I have in the past. the TL:DR is: best business decision is to have an audience (ppl who already follow TC will find release info on their own outside of that, but preexisting audiences bring in the most new people). Therefore, if TC can get an audience at one of the biggest events of the year, they'll use that spot for their announcement. To answer if they can get a spot: Geoff literally went on the record, saying he asked TC to come to SGF and they said they weren't ready. People want SS to be shown at one of their events. SS news is literally a commodity. I don't think the big event planners wouldn't incentivize TC to make news at their event (which further adds to the point of it not being in their best interest to announce something independently)

IE, when you didnt realize this other Area Gamma was one of the early game paths but now youve side tracked to Area Alpha and Beta so much you literally destroy everyone there

i guess you can also argue that it makes for good replayability, like you go to Area Gamma instead on your 2nd playthrough, which makes the other areas Alpha and Beta easier

Witcher 3 had it off by default, which is why i liked it there

others argue its good because it makes the game still challenging along the way

Because the very enemies themselves change, rather than their stats or level.
So you end up constantly killing ultra mega vampire lords

and its just kinda eh

bandits who wear deadric armor, ancient vampire lords, and super dragons become the norm, rather than a cool, exciting, exception

it doesnt help that skyrim has literally no boss mechanics, like, at all

and it doesnt help skyrim has a reverse difficulty curve in spite (or maybe because) of its scaling

Battle Brothers had this sort of soft scaling, earlier enemies once you reach a certain amount of days now gets added skills but their equipment and stats relatively stay the same

the biggest challenge comes from encountering new enemy types and at certain points can feel more like theyre puzzles than actual "fight" fights

but if you find low type enemies, you can still tear through them once you have the levels + equipment
its super satisfying where early game youre struggling to keep your mercenaries alive in a brigand fight, but mid-late game you can easily rout half of them because you can kill their group so fast

there are definetly ways to do good with scaling,

but there are so many ways to fuck it up

scaling is at its best when it allows you to fight an encounter roughly proportional to how it'd be when you first fight it it, in open world games

that way you arent robbed of a cool fight because you sidequested first

For example with deepnest you can go all the way into the hive, waterways, and right side city to then left side

You can take the traditional route to JUST left side city

Ground pound gives you access to places like the Crystal Peak

In Hollow Knight your accessibility is immense with just a few abilities

I'm wondering if in Silksong you will have access to like for example 3 areas with just 1

Ofc some areas being maybe a little more limited but then that's why you'd have more abilities to unlock

I don't think there is a true early mid/game area depending on what we're looking at because we don't know for sure if we even need to be there to begin with for any reasons or if it's an area for a side quest/side story/secret/"better" ending

Towards the end of my first playthrough and through Ng+1 and 2 I switched to sellsword twinblades

I went Dex first yeah

But ended up with 40 40 dex strength

yeah these are objectively the best melee weapon in the game for pve, theyre used by speedrunners for their insane dps

ive tried every class, love all of them but str and quality can feel a bit restrictive, same kinda for sorcery

faith is by far my favourite, its op for pve and super fun in pvp
