Lace's dialog is pretty explicit about her intentions (killing), and while it doesn't make sense for other citadel bug enemies in the world to kill hornet, if they don't kill hornet and instead capture her at low health or something, the gameplay loop after death suddenly changes drastically

I talk about it a little in the doc, but silk and soul are 'invariably bound' as TC puts it. the knight harvested soul from enemies, so my guess is hornet is harvesting a mix of the silk they're wrapped in, or their soul and using that soul to make silk herself
