It's weakness of a ground only bind is mechanically super well designed. The crest focuses on using Silk for silk skills, which means you'd naturally have less of it left over to heal. If you try to heal, you get "punished" for not using your silk for silk skills by not only heavily reducing your dps by 3 silk skill's worth of damage, but also rooting you to the ground

I'd say Shaman excells more. Say you are running egg of flealia so your silk skills cost 3 silk instead of 4. By not getting hit, you can use them 25% more frequently. Getting hit would remove that buff, and trying to heal would take away 3 silk skill's worth of damage. A volt fillament silk skill with Shaman crest deals roughly 5x nail damage and being able to use your silk for those skills only adds so much more potential damage.
