Nine Sols is primarily a package of excellent combat and story. Other gameplay components are additional toppings and that works really well if you do not care too much about exploration, platforming or puzzles. It's known to be one of the more linear MVs, but it still has a decent bit of non-linearity. Exploration, while it probably won't give you a sense of wonder, stills feels incredibly rewarding.

Exploration: 5.5 (okay)
Platforming: 5.0 (okay)
Combat: 10.0 (excellent, also has the best 2D boss ever )
Story: 9.5 (excellent)

Overall: 10/10. Would recommend.

Yea it's called Mist Juggling. You could literally just use 1 room to complete the first 2, then go through any sideways exit, go through Crossing, complete the next room, go back, and then choose any left or right facing exit, depending on where you entered from

I would. Tools and crests are much more balanced amongst eachother than charms were in hollow knight. The difficulty curve is definitely more steep but it evens out near the middle game imo, really only issue is dealing with 2 mask damage enemies when you don't have any movement abbilities.
