I'm spending way more than I make here. However I use a neat trick with sharpdart where I allign myself so that the sharpdart ends right behind the enemy, then I quickly turn around and get a hit in with my nail. Free hit of damage +1 silk back bassicaly means my sharpdart deals extra damage and only costs 2 silk.

Egg of flealia makes my skills cost 3 silk instead of 4, and when I use sharpdart I allign myself so that when I end it I am right behind the enemy, which let's me get an extra nail hit in, giving me extra damage plus 1 silk back, so yes, that's how I bassicaly use silk skills for 2 silk instead of 4.

I'll start by summarizing DI since Destiny talked about it already.

You have a wheel that dictates where you get knocked back if you get hit. You'll want to set it before locking in so that your opponent can't predict you in combos as easily. Generally just keep it facing away from your opp., but certain moves can benefit from going perpendicular, into the ground, or into the air.

Free cancels are something that gives you the ability to stop an ongoing move in the middle of execution and swap to a different one or evade away.
You only get 2, and you have to toggle them with the "Free" slider below the "Lock In" button. You'll want to use free cancels when doing big risky moves, but for snappy jabs like pommel or horizontal slash you're better off turning it off. Try to conserve them when you can, but both free cancels refill when you hit someone or get hit.

And a quick summary for blocking is:
You have a slider when blocking that gives you the option to block at a specific amount of frames. Any normal hit that hits you while blocking will be blocked regardless of that frame count, but if you block a hit at exactly that frame count (say, Cowboy's horizontal slash hits on frame 6, so I block at 6 frames) it will parry the attack and you get to counterattack. A parry can be as good or better than just trying to hit your opponent, so they're good to try out. The easiest way to parry an attack that you think an opp will throw is: click the attack on their panel, then click block on your side. It's auto-set to the time and height.
