i feel like the color change and start of silksong is way more intriguing than silksong and i think its the main reason why its better. in hk you get some cryptic (but cool ngl) cutscene about the black egg and this random guy walking and falling down, and in silksong you see that you get captured and make an epic escape. the act 1 screen also makes a big difference. then the tutorial in silksong is way better than hk, the way the needle falls down is so cool, and moss grotto is way more vibrant than kings pass, while also teaching the player stuff and better. and since the first boss is in the tutorial rather than the first big area, it sets the player up for what to expect. the tutorial and intro do a lot for if a player wants to play a game or not
