Well there are plenty of bodies surrounded by flies, starvation isn't really possible. The more likely option for me would be the quality of the kingdom. The Pale King basically perfected the excreetion of waste from the city, leading it directly into the fungal wastes, where it supports the life instead of harming it.

Resulting from this, pollution would be nearly non-existent outside of the Waterways, and hence no creatures to feed on the waste. Meanwhile Greymoor and Sinner's Road suck fucking ass.

It's less of a bossfight and more of a timing challenge. The Phial reduces the overall health and doesn't do actual damage. I believe it just took away 25% health every time, so you can damage-tank the last phase if he's too hard to hit. He also doesn't regenerate the 25%(+) percentages when dying or leaving the room.

Playstyle is formed by the game though? My point is that damage tanking is nearly impossible for most bosses and some enemies. Your mistakes actually matter much more than is HK. The difference is that your healing is far better, whereas HK lacks any of the advantages.
