the whole kings brand quest revolves around the knight lacking memories of its past, which it then recovers to unlock void heart. the knight didnt gain a mind because of the kings beacon, though, so it wouldnt have lost it or its memories when leaving the kingdom either. hornet concludes that the knight must not remember the abyss, and she does so directly after stating it was stronger than she expected. her logic is probably in reference to the same thing quirrel talks about in the comic. (this might be what quirrel dialogue i was remembering earlier?)

basically, knight is too strong, meaning it mustve spent all this time fighting in the wastes, meaning it must not remember the past apparently
