I have discovered something the game has implemented to protect me, I believe.

1 hit did not kill me. A grand reed hit me and I wondered why I only took two masks of damage. But then realized, the reed itself does double damage, then it became voided so it does 4 damage, and then I have barbed bracelet on which I assume doubles that, making it 8 damage per hit. I have only 8 masks though. That means that the gods of team cherry themselves have placed a protective spell on me and hardened my shell

I am infinitely grateful.

it’s the best option because the mod that makes me do a fast heavy strike after hairpinning doesnt get the boost from either black widow or bird of prey

neither does a 3 hit combo, but even though that gets kinetic thrust (boosts the 3rd hit of a combo) it doesn’t get bird of prey and it’s too slow
