I feel like the issue with Silksong imo is that it's way more punishing than Hollow Knight with way more brutal runbacks, it feels like it was geared towards HK sweats if that makes sense.

The difficulty curve is inconsistent too, with double damage meaning the hardest parts of the game will be near the beginning and end of the playthrough.

While playing SIlksong I kind of just felt really damn irritated. Fights never felt rewarding and it always felt like I was just getting punished for playing the game, the rewards for the most part are lackluster and you wind up getting something you will never use. Or just progress through an area.

Also -- hot take it is perfectly reasonable for people to go into Silksong with the mindset of it being a sequel to HK. I don't know why people are acting like this is such a idiotic concept when Silksong is a sequel.

I have to admit as a whole I had less fun with Silksong than Hollow Knight because of how punishing it was to simply learn the game. It feels like the game expects you to already be good at it and punishes you for it, which makes learning how to dodge enemies and learn attack patterns VERY. VERY. VERY HARD.

Lost Lace is the prime example of this with the infamous 2 masks-contact damage and the clusterfuck that is her final phase.

But the main thing is that the bosses just don't feel rewarding. You defeat a boss and you feel a "finally it's over" not a "YAY I WON!!"

Hollow Knight as a whole (even though it did have flaws -- it's excusable since a lot of the bosses were easier) did reward you for defeating the bosses (for the most part)
