Additionally, the map is 3D, we just don't see all of it.

Currently (infection & haunting) the mantises would win with ease. If both are in their "prime" the mantises would also win, even if not as easily.

If both were before the infection, haunting and without the mottled skarr mutation, the mantises would win, in my opinion. The last point could be argued, but I think the mantises would resist the skarr and defeat them.

karmelitas voice uniting all of the skarrs (factoring in mottled skarrs in this scenario where the mottled mutation doesnt exist) would drive them to wipe out the mantis tribe, itd be a tough fight but her voice was able to fend off the haunting for as long as she was able to sing, as she got older she stopped being able to sing and so with the sheer brute force the skarrs are able to bring by uniting together under prime era karmelita then the skarrs would win
no doubt that mantises would win after infection/haunting breaks throughout their kingdoms though lol its not even a close fight

Maybe if we put them in a simulator or something, without ANY of the other forces. However, pre-infection mantises would:
-Be backed up by the entirety of Hallownest under Pale King's rule
-Have four sisters of battle, which would easily overpower Karmelita in an instant
-Have a more balanced variety of fighters (more and stronger flying enemies)

The mantises didn't even need the song to be united. Their powers came through sheer strength alone. It wasn't anything magical, only their iron will stopped the infection. The mantis traitors weren't even infected either, they took the infection in willingly. If they hadn't wanted it, they wouldn't be infected either.

Basically, the Skarrs have more basic soldiers and one single "god". The mantises have four "gods" and less, but highly trained warriors.

The mantis tribe was not protected under hallownest or the pale king, they made a truce that was entirely based upon the pale king leaving them alone so that they could remain sovereign and not under his rule
The three sisters and the one brother could likely overpower karmelita on their own, yes, but assuming that they’re going through the waves of skarrs that protect her ferociously (like we see in the gauntlet before her battle, from the scouts to the last claws united under karmelita’s power i think that the skarrs would at least seriously injure if not even kill one of the lords if they were united by her voice alone
Also, idk about you but i think the hierarchies of both are pretty balanced, if anything the flying mantis enemies are young mantises who havent proved their power in becoming warriors yet, so we can assume that they are semi trained at best compared to the flying skarrs who are all trained hunters and fighters already
Idk where the assumption came from that the skarrs arent highly trained either but they most definitely are, from birth they are rigorously trained to become warriors and fighters with definitive hierarchies of their skill, sure the mantis warriors could have some equally as skilled fighters as the last claws but overall the skarrs have more definitively skilled fighters
also this depends on what kingdom theyre fighting in, if theyre going to mantis village in hallownest then what i said still stands, but if the mantises invade hunters march the skarrs have the existence of many many traps throughout the land on their side aswell

The flying pilgrims in wanderer’s chapel are one thing but the pilgrim with the weapon in round 4 of the enemy gauntlet. The weapon hitbox seems to be taller than the weapon itself. Air dashed over both, definitely avoided the other enemy, somehow failed to dodge above the weapon even though it looked like Hornet was high enough to avoid it.
